Volume One, Chapter Five: Close the Door, I'm Going to Kill the Dog!
“Uncle Ma, Uncle Zheng, how many resources has the Liu family invested in you? Now that the Liu family is in trouble, you want to back out and side with the enemy...” Liu Yanran was furious.
She despised these ungrateful traitors, and even more so the instigator of it all, Chen Fan.
If it weren’t for Chen Fan causing trouble, the Liu family wouldn’t be in such a dire situation.
Wang Biao laughed heartily. “They say a wise man adapts to the times. These brothers just don’t want to die for nothing. As long as the Liu family hands over the person obediently and stays out of this matter, I believe they’d be willing to return and continue serving as guest officials.”
“That’s right, Miss. If you hand the person over, we’re all willing to stay and serve the Liu family,” others chimed in.
Their shameless words made Liu Yanran’s face turn pale with anger.
Such two-faced fence-sitters—what use are they besides sucking the family dry?
Even if they wanted to stay, would the Liu family dare to keep them?
Wouldn’t they just betray them at the crucial moment?
Liu Yanran was filled with rage. Seeing Chen Fan standing silently by only made her more upset.
She snapped at him, “Aren’t you capable? Why are you suddenly speechless?”
“What’s the point of talking to these people? Just kill them,” Chen Fan shrugged. To him, Wang Biao and the others were nothing but clowns; he couldn’t be bothered to waste words. If he had the energy to talk, it would be easier just to kill them outright.
“Kill them? Then why don’t you do it!” Liu Yanran was furious. She acknowledged Chen Fan’s superb medical skills, but he only had the strength of a one-star warrior.
Wang Biao alone could easily crush him.
Moreover, Wang Biao had a dozen men with him.
“Go, capture the brat who hurt my nephew! Anyone who dares interfere will be killed on the spot,” Wang Biao snapped impatiently and ordered his men to move.
“Master Chen, you leave first. I’ll hold them off,” Sun Miao stepped in front of Chen Fan and revealed his identity to stop Wang Biao.
But it was useless. Although he was a one-star renowned doctor, Wang Biao didn’t take him seriously.
To Wang Biao, the Renowned Medical Hall was just a bunch of weaklings who couldn’t even tie a chicken—nothing to fear as long as they weren’t harmed.
At that moment, a loud shout came from outside the room: “Stop, all of you!”
The newcomer was an elderly man dressed in a black robe, and even from afar, the herbal scent was noticeable.
Sun Miao’s face brightened. “Hall Master, you’ve finally arrived.”
This man was none other than Sun Ming, the head of the famous Renowned Medical Hall in Jin City and Sun Miao’s cousin, though few people knew their relationship.
Seeing Sun Ming, Wang Biao frowned deeply, a bad premonition rising in his heart. “Hall Master Sun, what is the meaning of this?”
“None,” Sun Ming replied coolly. “Today, I stand by this man. You all should leave.”
“Hall Master Sun, this man is wanted by our Battle Master Hall. You protecting him—is this an open declaration of war against us?” Wang Biao retorted.
“What makes you think you represent the Battle Master Hall?” Sun Ming sneered coldly, “Even Qian Hu wouldn’t dare speak to me like that. I want to ask your hall master how he manages his subordinates.”
Originally, Sun Ming didn’t want to get involved, but after receiving a call from Sun Miao about encountering an old benefactor and hearing about Chen Fan’s medical brilliance, he felt compelled to recruit Chen Fan into the Renowned Medical Hall.
Various factors led him to come to the Liu family.
The Renowned Medical Hall and the Battle Master Hall have always cooperated; warriors frequently get injured, so doctors from the Medical Hall are needed for treatment.
Though Sun Ming was physically weak like a common man, Wang Biao, who could crush him like an ant, dared not lay a hand on him.
Red-faced and humiliated, Wang Biao had no choice but to call his elder brother Qian Hu for instructions.
After receiving orders, Wang Biao’s eyes flashed with ferocity as he addressed the Liu family coldly, “Today, I’m giving Hall Master Sun face and letting this brat go, but this matter isn’t over yet.”
Having spoken harsh words, Wang Biao prepared to leave with his men. Liu Yanran and the others finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Today’s crisis had been narrowly averted.
“Did I say you could leave?”
Chen Fan was displeased. These people came in shouting threats, then issued harsh words and tried to leave. They clearly didn’t respect him.
Hearing this, Wang Biao paused in surprise.
“Chen, can you shut up? Don’t stir up trouble,” Liu Yanran was on the verge of a breakdown. It was hard enough that Sun Ming arrived to save the day and drive these people off.
Now Chen Fan wanted to cause more trouble—was he courting death?
Sun Miao was also stunned. Having spent time with Chen Fan, he knew his temper well. This was trouble brewing again.
But if things continued this way, even though his cousin was the Medical Hall’s head, he wouldn’t be able to control him.
Wang Biao smirked, addressing Sun Ming, “Hall Master Sun, it’s not that I don’t give you face. You heard it yourself—this brat here doesn’t want us to leave!”
Sun Ming frowned, feeling Chen Fan was somewhat ungrateful.
His appearance was only out of respect for Sun Miao, but with Chen Fan’s personality, no matter how talented he was medically, he was ill-suited to join the Renowned Medical Hall.
Who would want a disobedient subordinate?
Chen Fan didn’t think his words were problematic.
He grinned at Sun Miao, “Little Sun, close the door. I’m going to kill some dogs!”
Kill dogs?
Where did dogs come from?
The warriors were momentarily stunned, then realized Chen Fan was speaking metaphorically, insulting them by calling them dogs.
Anger surged through everyone.
