Chapter 7: Entering the Sacred Land
This scene filled the disciples of the sacred land with bitter envy—why were they not afforded such treatment? This young man named Wei Yi was yet another peerless prodigy! Ultimately, Wei Yi became a disciple under a supreme elder of the sacred land, and Luo Yan settled down alongside him.
Luo Yan did not pursue cultivation himself; instead, he wandered through the Tianxuan Sacred Land, gathering intelligence on everything within. Because of his identity as a "suitor" of the Tianxuan Holy Maiden, Luo Yan easily integrated among the disciples of the sacred land.
All these individuals admired the Tianxuan Holy Maiden, yet their talents fell short. They knew deep down they had no chance with her but refused to accept it. By chance, they formed the Tianxuan Holy Maiden Suitors’ Organization, which included not only disciples from the Tianxuan Sacred Land but also suitors from other factions.
Luo Yan joined this organization naturally to better glean information.
Most of the time, the group’s conversations revolved around topics about the Tianxuan Holy Maiden: which divine silk garment she wore today, whom she met, which prodigies she defeated, and other daily affairs.
As the most beautiful woman in the Eastern Wasteland, she naturally attracted much attention!
Of course, occasionally the organization also discussed other interesting matters: which regions in the Eastern Wasteland were unstable today, where several disciples of the sacred land would spar, and the causes behind such events.
This was exactly what Luo Yan needed!
After three months in the sacred land, Luo Yan roughly deduced three possible locations where the Xingzi Secret might be hidden. The first was the Cangong Pavilion of the Tianxuan Sacred Land, which contained most of the cultivation inheritance texts; the Xingzi Secret was very likely hidden in its uppermost levels.
The second was a thatched hut deep within the Tianxuan Sacred Land. Legend said that was the origin place of the Tianxuan Sacred Land, where its first Holy Lord attained enlightenment and sainthood. Since the Xingzi Secret was the glorious source of the Tianxuan Sacred Land, it might be concealed there.
The third location was more peculiar—the Xinggong, the temporary palace where successive Holy Lords resided. Surely, there would be depictions of previous Holy Lords cultivating the Xingzi Secret. Luo Yan did not need to ask the Holy Lord directly; he could simply enter and use the Time Mirror to reflect the cultivation history of the past Holy Lords.
In truth, Luo Yan had considered revealing a portion of his true cultivation to gain the Tianxuan Sacred Land’s attention and get a chance to access these three places.
But as soon as the thought arose, Luo Yan sensed that all the myriad paths of the Dao would fix their gaze upon him, expelling him from this stretch of history. The Time Mirror was still refining the time source; if expelled into the river of time, his mortal body could not endure the temporal force for long.
The original body had paid a heavy price to forge the Time Mirror into an ultimate imperial weapon, leaving this already fragile body even more precarious. This was Luo Yan’s concern.
---
"Wei Yi, my Great Perfection in the Bitter Sea realm is complete!" Wei Yi approached with a joyful smile, visibly excited.
Luo Yan praised calmly, "Not bad, very impressive!"
"Too bad my master told me to refine it carefully, or I would have broken through to the Life Spring realm by now!" Wei Yi said with some dissatisfaction.
Luo Yan replied, "Your master is right. The human body contains five divine treasures; among them, the Lunhai Divine Treasure is the foremost secret realm. Only by mastering this primary realm can one go far. A towering building starts from a solid foundation. Each breakthrough later requires an even more robust base. Your current slow progress is laying down that strong foundation."
Hearing Luo Yan’s words, Wei Yi agreed, "My master said the same. But he also told me to diligently train the other secret realms besides the Lunhai."
In truth, Luo Yan knew where the strongest Dao Scripture for the Lunhai secret realm was but was powerless to obtain it.
At the edge of the Ancient Forbidden Zone lay the tomb of a demon emperor. In the future, when Ye Fan arrives at the Big Dipper Star riding the Nine-Dragon Coffin, the tomb would open, and the Dao Scripture would fall into his hands. It was a supreme ancient scripture capable of cultivating the strongest Lunhai secret realm.
This had been prepared by the ruthless Great Emperor who had lived five lifetimes in the Ancient Forbidden Zone with unparalleled talent.
To obtain it, one must wait for Ye Fan’s arrival at the Big Dipper Star to have the chance to unlock it.
Moreover, inside the demon emperor’s tomb was also a shard of the Central Continent’s treasure, the Green Cauldron!
"Wei Yi, I heard you joined a group formed by the Holy Maiden’s suitors? That’s unnecessary. I can quietly take you to meet the Holy Maiden! I can even help set you up!" Wei Yi suddenly said.
"Ahem! Don’t say nonsense. The Holy Maiden is such a lofty figure! How could she ever notice a lowly cultivator like me? There is a chasm between us. I can only admire her from afar this lifetime!" Luo Yan immediately retorted.
Wei Yi pouted, "That’s not true! Brother Luo Yan, you wield the most forbidden power of time. I even asked my master about it. He said only those most dazzling across past and present could cultivate such power successfully!"
Upon hearing Wei Yi’s words, Luo Yan again denied, "Nonsense. I’m just an ordinary wanderer. How could I possess such power?"
Wei Yi stubbornly countered, "One year, a cultivator bullied me. Brother Luo Yan didn’t show it on the surface but secretly cut off that person’s hundred years of lifespan! The next day, I heard people say the bully’s hair turned white overnight, his vitality deteriorated, and he died!"
"I felt it the instant Brother Luo Yan acted!" Wei Yi said seriously.
---
Luo Yan felt slightly moved. Indeed, this was a peerless prodigy who had attained Dao through severing the path in the End Era. Even before stepping into the cultivation world, he could sense Luo Yan’s move!
At the time, Luo Yan had struck casually without much concealment. He never imagined a child yet to enter the cultivation world would dare respond to his action—his carelessness.
"I don’t know what you’re talking about! Time power? I don’t understand," Luo Yan feigned ignorance.
Wei Yi was unhappy, "You just won’t admit it. Saying you don’t understand? I may be young but I’m not foolish!"
"Brother Luo Yan, can I borrow that mirror of yours?" Wei Yi asked again.
Luo Yan questioned, "What do you need it for?"
Wei Yi revealed an embarrassed expression, "Yesterday, my senior brother took me to a disciple trading market inside the sacred land. Someone accused me of stealing. I want to use that mirror to prove my innocence!"
Upon hearing this, Luo Yan laughed. Using an ultimate imperial weapon to prove one’s not a thief—only this little guy would think of that. Though the Time Mirror wasn’t yet a true ultimate imperial weapon since it was broken—it was only half a piece.
Wei Yi knew the Time Mirror could reflect past events because Luo Yan had used it in front of him to bluff some wealthy families and earn source stones, so he understood some of its uses.
"If you want to borrow it, fine. But about earlier..."
"Don’t worry, Brother Luo Yan! I won’t say a word!" Wei Yi patted his chest and guaranteed.
"Not a second time, okay?" Luo Yan handed over the Time Mirror, unconcerned about it being taken. Unless the Great Emperor intervened to seize it, Luo Yan only needed a thought for the mirror to return—it was his divine weapon of enlightenment!
Wei Yi happily took it but thought to himself, “Yeah, right!”
"Brother Luo Yan, rest assured, your lifelong happiness is on me!"
