Volume One, Chapter Three: Does Your Husband Still Need a Second Wife?
The next day, Sang Haining woke up and prepared the clothes for Rong Shaoqin to wear, just as she did every morning. However, the servants informed her that he had already left at the crack of dawn. Usually, he would not head out until after breakfast. It seemed he was truly angry.
After finishing her own breakfast, a bewildered Sang Haining went to visit Shen Chuyi. Shen, who considered herself a master of romance, puffed out her chest after hearing Sang's story. "My IQ might not match yours, but when it comes to the affairs between men and women, you really should call me your mentor."
"Can you stop trying to take advantage of me?" Sang Haining replied, speechless.
Shen Chuyi tapped her slender fingers rhythmically against the table, wearing a mysterious expression. "You still don't understand the species known as man."
Sang Haining nodded. "Please, Teacher Shen, enlighten me."
"I wouldn't dare." Shen Chuyi feigned modesty before getting to the point. "Let me ask you, when your boss said he wasn't coming home last night, how did you react?"
Sang Haining knit her brows. "I naturally reminded him of a few things—like getting some sleep, or having a bowl of sobering soup if he had a headache. Is that wrong?"
"It’s not wrong, not even a little bit," Shen Chuyi said, her tone dramatic. "But—think about it, is he really just your boss?"
Sang Haining looked puzzled.
Seeing her lack of insight, Shen Chuyi answered for her. "He isn't your boss; he is your husband. You two aren't in a standard professional hierarchy; you are a married couple. Since you are married, if your husband stays out overnight, never mind not checking up on him—at the very least, you should have asked where he was staying."
"Why?" Sang Haining asked, confused.
"Married men are most afraid of being controlled, but if they aren't cared for at all, they feel awkward. That is exactly where Rong Shaoqin's frustration lies," Shen Chuyi stated emphatically.
Sang Haining felt as if her head might explode. She furrowed her brow in distress. "The situation you're describing only applies to couples with real feelings. Rong Shaoqin and I are the exception."
"Some things are hard to say for sure," Shen Chuyi said, looking her up and down.
Sang Haining was strikingly beautiful. While her shoulders and neck were delicate, giving her a petite appearance, her figure was shapely with elegant curves. Her waist-to-hip ratio was nothing short of perfect. She possessed a rare blend of vivid allure and pure innocence. Had Shen Chuyi been the one carefully looked after by such a woman for over a year, she would have had a child by now. It could only mean that Rong Shaoqin was not a normal man, as he had made no emotional progress with Sang Haining for so long.
However, Shen Chuyi believed that with time, Rong Shaoqin would eventually develop feelings for her. After all, last night's incident was proof of her theory.
Sang Haining laughed. "You aren't trying to tell me that Rong Shaoqin likes me, are you?"
Shen Chuyi raised an eyebrow, a silent affirmation.
"That's impossible," Sang Haining smiled. "He has a woman outside; you should know this. Otherwise, we wouldn't have gone this long without children."
Shen Chuyi was at a loss for words and fell silent for a long time. Finally, she opened her mouth, her tone stiff. "If that's the case, then it must be Rong Shaoqin's pride getting in the way."
"Then how do I break this deadlock?" As a wife, besides managing the household, Sang Haining's duty was to maintain the marriage.
Shen Chuyi replied, "Take last night for example. When he stays out, you need to show a strong desire for him to come home."
"Just like that?"
"Yes, just like that," Shen Chuyi insisted. "You have to treat him as your husband from the bottom of your heart, not as your boss. Use this incident as a starting point, apply it to other situations, and you'll be able to handle things in the future."
"Fine. I'll check if my book has any advice on that, and then I'll know what to do." Sang Haining pulled a book titled *On the Self-Cultivation of a Wife* from her bag.
Shen Chuyi couldn't help but roll her eyes and let out a heavy sigh. In the end, it was clear that Sang Haining hadn't developed feelings for Rong Shaoqin yet. Because of this, she remained a complete novice in the realm of romantic relationships, acting entirely confused.
Shen Chuyi pulled a book from the shelf behind her and handed it to Sang Haining. "Stop reading that garbage. Read this instead."
Sang Haining glanced at the cover: *The Psychology Behind Male-Female Relationships*. She took it, tucked it into her bag, and said solemnly, "I will study it carefully."
Shen Chuyi sighed helplessly. "You are the first person I've ever met who manages to turn a husband into a boss."
"But I do get paid every month," Sang Haining noted.
"How much?"
"Two hundred thousand a month."
"Does your husband need a second wife?"
Sang Haining: "..."
