Chapter 45: Conversation
"Is this the reinforcement of the Main God?"
Chu Xuan slightly sensed his newfound power and pressed the Gauss rifle he had previously assembled against his chest.
Bang!
The gunshot rang out.
Chu Xuan's entire chest was blasted away, and the organs, ribs, and even the spine and flesh within were all blown out from behind, staining the ground with a layer of blood.
"Damn it!"
Qian Gu's mouth twitched. "Main God, heal him comple—"
"No need."
Chu Xuan waved his hand and sat cross-legged on the ground.
"I can feel that such an injury is not yet enough to take my life."
Hiss—
Qian Gu suddenly felt that recommending the troll reinforcement to Chu Xuan—who was currently still in a suicidal state—might have been a mistake.
A troll!
A troll renowned for its resilience.
Even among the myriad ancient races, a troll's regenerative capacity was defyingly powerful, an absolute marvel.
With such regenerative capabilities, Chu Xuan could now practically bypass the first layer of restraint, courting death much more freely and casually than before, without needing to harbor any concerns.
"Truly formidable."
As Qian Gu was pondering, Chu Xuan had already stood up once again.
The clothes on his upper body were completely gone, exposing his pale chest. The gaping hole had vanished entirely, replaced by brand-new flesh and bone that filled the cavity, identical to the original.
If not for the uncleaned blood on the floor, Qian Gu would have doubted whether he had just witnessed a dream.
"This also counts as a form of cheating."
"I didn't specify that it wasn't allowed beforehand."
An eye for an eye.
Although Qian Gu knew that Chu Xuan had not yet unlocked the final mental shackles and certainly wouldn't seek actual death just yet, knowing was one thing, and the principle was another.
"What is the limit for creating a person?"
"A physical fitness of twice the human limit, plus the knowledge you possess," Qian Gu replied. "Apart from that, we can apply enhancements to the created person, though I didn't do that, opting instead for dragon blood injections and spell fixation."
"Those tattoos?"
"Mm."
"What is the cost?"
"The cost of spell fixation is neither big nor small," Qian Gu said, touching the robe he wore. "The main issue is the time it consumes, a problem I currently have no way to solve."
Indeed.
The only enemy currently restricting Qian Gu from performing spell fixation was time.
With insufficient time, even if he were capable of fixing 9th-circle spells and possessed enough magical materials, it would be meaningless. Once the entire fixation process was interrupted, the materials would be wasted, and he would have to start all over again.
This was also why Qian Gu mostly fixed low-circle spells.
"Why did they still choose to create a woman?"
Chu Xuan asked with some confusion.
"Chu Xuan, what some people need is not a bodyguard, but an external catalyst to rouse their inner self."
Qian Gu understood very well why Chu Xuan asked this question.
Knowledge gained from books is always superficial.
Even though Chu Xuan possessed a vast amount of knowledge, his innate defect prevented him from truly feeling and touching it; he would only view what these people did as entirely meaningless, or even a manifestation devoid of thought.
Qian Gu said, "I didn't need to create a woman for myself because my inner self is strong enough. I have my own goals and know what I need to do, so I chose to create a bodyguard.
"As for Zheng Zha and the others creating a woman, it is because their inner selves are adrift. They need a reason to live, something to support them in fighting for their lives.
"Chu Xuan, it's not only women who need a sanctuary for their souls; men need one just as much."
The human mind has its limits.
Once those limits are reached, the slightest turbulence will shatter it, plunging the person entirely into the abyss.
The original Zheng Zha was precisely like that.
He was already rotting away in the steel jungle, constantly using almost taboo stimuli to provoke his mind, but ultimately gaining nothing. He could only fall into despair and arrive at the Main God's space.
Even so, Zheng Zha's will to survive had not truly been excavated.
Until—
The appearance of Lori.
Zheng Zha knew very well that Lori was not truly resurrected.
He was clearer on this than anyone else: he had not resurrected Lori, but rather manufactured a beauty belonging to himself, one that had countless times supported him through difficult and dangerous trials in his memories.
Live on!
For the sake of this beauty, live well!
Without Lori, Zheng Zha was worth nothing.
With Lori, Zheng Zha would become the future strongest warrior of the Main God's space.
"What you said makes sense, perhaps." Chu Xuan pushed up his glasses. "For that fellow, a woman is indeed more useful than a bodyguard."
"Is there anything else you want to ask?"
"Not for now."
"Then do me a favor." Qian Gu took out the T-virus primary serum, which had been transferred to his custody. "Study this. It is the T-virus primary serum, which can unlock a reinforcement known as the T-virus evolutionary mode.
"If it can be mass-produced and still used after reinforcement, everyone will gain another free exchange to exploit."
The T-virus?
Chu Xuan lowered his head. In his hand was now a password case with its lock removed.
"I will."
With that, Chu Xuan picked up the case, pushed open the door to a room, and walked inside.
By this time, Qian Gu was the only one left in the entire space.
"It's time to look at my own gains."
Qian Gu contacted the Main God and reviewed his rewards.
Basic reward: 1,000 reward points.
Surviving for 6 hours under the pursuit of Auriga Commander Perez: one C-rank horror side quest, 3,000 reward points.
Destroying all DNA samples: one C-rank horror side quest, 2,500 reward points.
Killing eight Xenomorphs: 800 reward points.
Killing one Xenomorph Queen: one D-rank horror side quest, 1,000 reward points.
Killing the Xenomorph evolutionary form: one B-rank horror side quest, 5,000 reward points.
In this mission, he had accumulated a total of one B-rank horror side quest, two C-rank horror side quests, one D-rank horror side quest, and 13,300 reward points, not to mention the leftovers from the previous ten-day intermission period.
It could be said that Qian Gu was exceptionally wealthy at this moment.
However...
"I suddenly find myself wondering how to spend it."
The next level of Draconic Bloodline Warlock reinforcement required two A-rank horror side quests. Unless it was a team-vs-team battle, gathering enough would be a lengthy process.
Aside from that, there was only one choice left.
Spells!
He could only exchange them for spells.
"Wait, this 7th-circle spell actually requires one B-rank horror side quest and 5,000 reward points? That is truly... well, it's not expensive."
When he saw what the spell actually was, Qian Gu's previous thoughts vanished completely.
A 7th-circle spell, Necromancy school: Resurrection!
In other words, it was a resurrection spell within the Main God's space!
