Chapter 123: Meditation Technique
Although a Level 4 Wizard was still a very distant prospect for Xius, his goals reached far beyond that. However, this meditation technique would at least ensure he wouldn't have to worry about such matters for a long time.
"Let’s test the effects of this meditation technique first!" Shortly after entering the Lost Realm, the Chip had finished analyzing the information contained within the technique. However, as Xius had been constantly traveling toward the Holy Circle City for the past two months, he had never had the chance to try it out.
Included with the meditation technique were three potion formulas. Even more precious was the fact that all three were capable of stimulating mental energy, which was of immense help to an official wizard. Xius was certain that if he were to reveal these three formulas and the "Abyssal Power" meditation technique, it would cause a massive stir, even in a place like the Holy Circle City.
Xius slowly closed his eyes, preparing to attempt the "Abyssal Power" meditation for the first time. Upon closing his eyes, he felt as though he had arrived in an environment of absolute darkness, devoid of even a sliver of light.
Just as Xius was feeling puzzled, a vertical purple line suddenly appeared directly in front of him. Before he could make sense of it, the line slowly opened, revealing a massive vertical pupil staring back at him. Immediately afterward, a cool, refreshing sensation swept through his entire body. At the same time, a vertical pupil manifested behind him, continuously overflowing with purple energy that seeped into his body.
"Chip! How long did I meditate for this time?" After a long while, Xius opened his eyes, a flicker of light passing through them, as he asked the Chip internally.
"Beep! The duration of this meditation was 47 minutes."
"I see, that’s not too long!" Xius felt the duration was acceptable, as his usual meditation sessions were much longer.
"Beep! Data regarding the host's body has been transmitted."
The information the Chip transmitted this time was the visual representation of the image that had appeared behind him during his meditation.
"This is..." Xius was taken aback as he looked at his own appearance during the meditation. "I’ve never heard of such a phenomenon occurring during meditation!" He felt quite surprised. Aside from the name of the bloodline, the information analyzed by the Chip contained nothing about the nature of this lineage; Xius had no idea where it originated.
"It seems I cannot meditate in front of others anymore!" Looking at that vertical pupil, which was identical to his own eyes, he couldn't help but feel a sense of profound intimacy.
"Chip! Bring up my data!" Xius was eager to know the effects of this meditation technique.
"Beep! Xius Bruher: Level 1 Wizard. Bloodline: Abyssal Dweller. Strength: 7.12, Agility: 8.91, Physique: 10.97, Mental Energy: 32.124, Mana: 32.124 (Mana is synchronized with mental energy). Status: Healthy!"
"Beep! Mental energy increased by 0.004 during this meditation!"
"Beep! As the host has advanced to an official wizard, consistent meditation for one month will complete the first layer of the advanced meditation technique, Abyssal Power!"
"Beep! It is estimated that the host's mental energy will undergo an amplification upon completion of the first layer of the advanced meditation technique; the effect is unknown!"
"This is excellent!" Xius felt very satisfied upon hearing the Chip's notification. The further a wizard progresses, the harder meditation becomes, and the slower the growth of mental energy. Even wizards who possess advanced meditation techniques still have to seek out vast amounts of precious resources to continuously stimulate their mental energy. This was exactly why many apprentices remained stagnant after advancing to official wizards—the lack of resources and advanced techniques left them unable to move forward on the path of seeking truth.
"Chip! Can you find information on advancing to a Level 2 Wizard?" Xius wanted to have a baseline to plan for the future.
"Beep! Available data found, integrating now!"
Xius waited quietly. Since the data existed, there was no need to rush. Besides, in the vast Holy Circle City, he didn't believe there would be no information regarding Level 2 Wizards.
"Beep! Requirements for advancing to a Level 2 Wizard: Mental energy must reach 80, and mental elementality must reach 80%."
Before long, the Chip provided the necessary information.
"Chip! What is this 'mental elementality'?" Xius understood mental energy well, but this was his first time hearing of mental elementality.
"Beep! In layman's terms, it is the host choosing an element with the highest affinity to undergo mentalization, thereby increasing the power of spells of that same attribute!"
"So, it’s just choosing the development path that suits me best!" After the Chip’s explanation, Xius understood the meaning of this so-called mental elementality.
"Beep! Please note that after the host chooses an attribute and undergoes mental elementality, it may cause significant energy radiation!"
"Hmm? Is this mental elementality hard to control?" Xius wasn't worried about that; the Holy Circle City had purification towers, after all.
"Beep! For example, if the host chooses the ice element, a single glance could turn an ordinary person into an ice sculpture!"
"The gap between an apprentice and a wizard really is immense!" Xius sighed, looking at the simulated imagery transmitted by the Chip in his mind.
"However, which one should I choose?" Xius hesitated. As the Chip said, wizards usually choose the element with the highest affinity for mentalization, but all four of Xius’s talents were highly suitable.
"Darkness element is excluded first!" Xius had never studied any knowledge related to the darkness element, so he ruled it out immediately. It wasn't that he was being indecisive; he knew that mental elementality, like increasing mental energy, required massive resources. Choosing too many would only hinder his advancement speed.
"Then it will be the lightning and ice elements!" After much thought, Xius decided on these two.
"Chip! Based on my current progress, how long will it take for me to meet the requirements for a Level 2 Wizard?" Xius planned to live in the Holy Circle City for the long term. Resources would surely be plentiful, and as an alchemist, it shouldn't be too difficult.
"Beep! Collecting host's physical data, establishing analysis simulation..."
"Beep! Based on the host's current progress, it is estimated that in 17 years and 7 months, mental energy will reach 80, and mental elementality will be at 0%!"
The Chip quickly informed Xius of what he wanted to know.
"Why is the mental elementality progress at 0%?" Ignoring the long timeframe, Xius immediately focused on that zero progress.
"Beep! The advanced meditation technique cannot advance the progress of mental elementality!"
"Why?" Xius was shocked by the data. He was now a bloodline wizard; if the corresponding meditation technique couldn't advance his elemental progress, he would be in trouble when it came time to advance.
"Beep! The advanced meditation technique 'Abyssal Power' is non-attribute and can coexist with other meditation techniques!"
"That's impossible!" Upon hearing this, Xius's first reaction was disbelief. Every advanced meditation technique was a wizard's reliance or foundation; once chosen, it was very difficult to change, especially for a bloodline wizard.
"Non-attribute... what exactly is the origin of the bloodline inside me?" Xius had thought his path as a wizard would be smoother after obtaining this advanced meditation technique, but it appeared that was not the case.
"Beep! For detailed circumstances, the host may refer to the advanced meditation technique 'Dark Fire Candlelight'!"
"Dark Fire Candlelight..." Xius then remembered that Gejiali had once given him an advanced meditation technique, saying at the time that it did not suit him.
"Beep! Advanced meditation technique 'Dark Fire Candlelight' is suitable for fire and darkness elements!"
"Should I give it a try?" Thinking of the Chip's statement that "Abyssal Power" could coexist with other techniques, Xius decided to test it.
"Chip! Transmit the data for 'Dark Fire Candlelight'!"
After much deliberation, Xius decided to try it himself. After all, this concerned his future path, and he couldn't afford to be careless.
"Beep! Transmitting!"
With the growth of his mental energy, Xius rarely experienced headaches when the Chip transmitted large amounts of data now. Feeling the data in his mind, Xius entered a state of meditation once more.
Unlike "Abyssal Power," when Xius entered meditation following the records of "Dark Fire Candlelight," he felt as if he were surrounded by a sea of magma. Waves of heat washed over him, but afterward, Xius felt surprisingly comfortable. Just as he was slowly experiencing this, the surrounding environment suddenly changed, and he was back in that dark, void-like space he had experienced before.
