Upon hearing that Xu Mo had returned, Chen Miaoyi immediately rose and hurried to open the door.
“Husband, where have you been? You’ve been gone so long,” Chen Miaoyi asked.
Xu Mo smiled as he glanced at Qin Mutou behind him and replied, “I accompanied Mutou to buy a bronze mirror, planning to gift it to Huihui.”
Qin Mutou, clutching a wooden box, smiled foolishly at Chen Miaoyi.
Xu Mo stepped into the room and inquired, “Wife, what were you and Miss Ning just discussing? I seemed to overhear you mention the capital.”
Chen Miaoyi quickly responded, “It’s nothing, we were just chatting casually.”
She then swiftly turned around and winked at Ning Yaxin, signaling her to drop the topic of going to the capital.
Ning Yaxin caught on instantly and pointed to the long, cloth-wrapped object in Xu Mo’s hand, changing the subject. “Young Master Xu, what are you holding?”
On the way back, Xu Mo had found a piece of cloth and wrapped the Purple Rainbow Sword.
Only then did Chen Miaoyi notice the item in Xu Mo’s hand and asked, “Husband, what did you buy?”
Xu Mo walked to the table, placed the Purple Rainbow Sword down, and smiled. “Wife, Miss Ning, let me show you something special.”
With that, Xu Mo spread open the cloth to reveal the Purple Rainbow Sword before them.
“Husband, why is it a broken sword?” Chen Miaoyi exclaimed in surprise.
Ning Yaxin was also puzzled, unable to understand why Xu Mo would buy a broken sword.
Xu Mo immediately raised his voice. “Don’t underestimate it. This was once wielded by a sword master. Though broken now, it still cuts through iron like mud, with astonishing power!”
He then recounted the process of buying the sword from the sword-blind man.
Upon hearing that Xu Mo had purchased this broken sword for fifty guan, Chen Miaoyi and Ning Yaxin were stunned, exchanging glances without knowing what to say.
Xu Mo found their expressions all too familiar—very much like when he had secretly bought a PS5 and a bunch of genuine games back in the day, and his ex-girlfriend’s stunned reaction.
Xu Mo gestured toward the Purple Rainbow Sword with both hands. “Hey! This sword once belonged to the sword master Li Tianyi. Such an opportunity is rare and precious!”
Ning Yaxin frowned slightly. “Young Master Xu, how do you know this sword belonged to the sword master? Have you had it authenticated? Nowadays, there are countless swindlers. Even if you have money, you shouldn’t spend it like this.”
Chen Miaoyi nodded in agreement. “Husband, it’s not that I forbid you from spending, but fifty guan for this is... well, it’s not worth it. Maybe you should return it.”
Xu Mo quickly replied, “No way! You don’t know, that old blind man is formidable. He could tell our ages just by listening to our breathing. I asked Mutou; this isn’t something an ordinary person can do, only an expert.”

At this, Xu Mo looked toward Qin Mutou at the door, who promptly nodded at Chen Miaoyi and Ning Yaxin.
Xu Mo continued, “Besides, I observed his speech and mannerisms carefully. He’s definitely someone with a story—he might have quite a background!”
Chen Miaoyi asked, “Husband, even if what you say is true, what good is buying a broken sword?”
Ning Yaxin shared the same question.
“To make a dagger!” Xu Mo said. “This sword cuts through iron like mud. With some modification, it can become a dagger. When I’m out, I should have some means of self-defense, right?”
Seeing how Xu Mo insisted, Chen Miaoyi and Ning Yaxin said no more. After all, it was only fifty guan; if it turned out to be a scam, they would just take it as a lesson.
Xu Mo wrapped the Purple Rainbow Sword back up and smiled. “Miss Ning, wife, it’s already noon. Let’s go eat. I’m starving, ha ha.”
Ning Yaxin immediately agreed and called Ling’er to prepare the carriage to take them to the Zhenxiu Restaurant.
Xu Mo said, “Miss Ning, the Zhenxiu Restaurant is so popular. Won’t it be hard to get a seat at this hour?”
Ning Yaxin smiled. “Young Master Xu, don’t worry. I already spoke to Yongqiang last night and asked him to reserve a private room for us today.”
She had planned this meal after settling accounts earlier, so everything was arranged in advance.
“I see. Then it’s settled, ha ha...” Xu Mo laughed.
The group then descended the stairs, boarded the carriage, and headed toward the Zhenxiu Restaurant.
-----------------------------
Business at the Zhenxiu Restaurant was as booming as ever.
When Xu Mo’s party arrived, two attendants outside the main door were persuading the guests waiting in line not to queue any longer. There were simply too many customers today, and they couldn’t accommodate any more.
Just as Xu Mo and the others were about to enter, a commotion suddenly arose from the queue.
“Old blind man, I’m not refusing to pay you. What’s wrong with letting me have this ticket? Why are you so stubborn?” A man wearing a brown long robe was growing angry.
Everyone turned to see the man in the brown robe loudly yelling at an elderly blind man in the line.
Xu Mo immediately recognized the blind elder—it was the sword-blind man.
Xu Mo had wondered where he had gone, only to find him lining up for a meal at the Zhenxiu Restaurant.
Qin Mutou also recognized him and said, “Master, isn’t that the blind old man?”

Hearing this, Chen Miaoyi and Ning Yaxin exchanged puzzled looks toward Xu Mo.
“Yes, that old man is the sword-blind man,” Xu Mo nodded in confirmation.
At this moment, the sword-blind man coldly replied, “I’m not short of money. Why should I sell you this ticket?”
The man in the brown robe retorted, “Hey! You old blind man, getting cocky, huh? You’re alone. Don’t hog a whole table, okay?”
“Besides, you’re blind. How do you know what you’re eating? I even suspect you’d put the food in your nose by mistake!”
Upon hearing this, the four servants following the man in the brown robe burst into loud laughter, and some of the nearby people in line chuckled quietly as well.
The sword-blind man coldly said, “Get lost, stop making noise in front of me!”
The man in the brown robe frowned, thought for a moment, and loudly said, “Old blind man, I’ll add another guan—two guan in total. You give me the ticket, that should be enough, right?”
The sword-blind man simply ignored him.
“Old blind man, don’t refuse the good wine and drink the bad!” The man’s face immediately darkened.
But the sword-blind man remained unmoved.
The man in the brown robe turned and shouted to the four servants, “Drag him out! I want to find a place to have a good chat with him!”
He spoke with great authority, not even glancing back.
The four servants immediately surged forward to seize the sword-blind man and remove him from the line. The nearby crowd quickly scattered in fear.
Chen Miaoyi grew anxious and said, “Mutou, hurry and help!”
Ning Yaxin had the same thought and quickly instructed Ling’er to call for help.
Xu Mo, however, stopped everyone confidently, saying, “Don’t worry. He can handle it!”
Before his words had even finished, the sword-blind man sprang into action.
Wielding his white cane, he struck with dazzling speed and precision. One by one, the four ruffians fell to the ground—one clutching his mouth, another his face, and two holding their heads tightly, looking utterly miserable.
