Volume 1, Chapter 29: You Must Find Me
I drove to People's Square and found a spot to park on the side of the road. Guan Ying and I walked toward the crowd; she hid behind me, while nearly everyone around us held up their phones to photograph the procession of nearly a hundred people.
It was late autumn, and the evening air was biting. The old monk, however, wore only a thin kasaya, his right arm bared; he appeared to be a lama.
Ding Zhen complained incessantly. He hid from the world like a rat avoiding a cat, sleeping soundly in a dilapidated hostel during the day and only crawling out in the dead of night from his foul-smelling room to head straight for the beach, where he would splash into the sea—a quick dip in the saltwater serving as his bath.
"That impressive? How can you get the ticket in hand now when it was only booked tonight?" Ye Zhen asked, puzzled. He couldn't understand how an online booking could be retrieved immediately; it seemed far too strange.
She kept telling Ming Lou that she had people investigating and tailing him, insisting that everything she did was a manifestation of her love for him. She said, "Ming Lou, I want to help you—to clear these suspicions so that no one doubts or speculates about you." She truly did not want her senior brother to be doubted by anyone.
Faced with Ming Lou’s remark, Ming Fan didn't know how to respond. Yet, he clearly sensed the subtext—there was a sharp, volatile edge to the words, though he couldn't detect a hint of it in Ming Lou’s eyes or expression. But they were brothers, family, and that bond allowed him to understand perfectly.
I gripped Song Ji’s drill bit tightly with my fingers, and with my other hand, I struck like a blade, severing the front section of the drill. What I cut off was likely his palm.
The bedroom door was clearly locked; how could Lord Naraku have gotten in? Right... it must be a dream. I must have cried myself to sleep.
"Am I that famous?! Hehe, it’s alright. I just did a bit of reading before the semester started and memorized some things in my spare time, just in case I could turn the tables on any future mistakes. Hehe, who told me to be Ming Fan? That teacher is too mean; she’s clearly trying to set me up," Ming Fan said, and Yu Manli chuckled.
However, Ying Xiu remained cool and distant toward Sheng Liuli, while her affection for A-Yan seemed truly heartfelt.
Luo Luo turned his gaze toward Beidou. Among them, Beidou was the weakest; if a fight with a master broke out, Beidou would have to bear the brunt of it, so it was best to let him decide.
The field reconnaissance confirmed what Lin Rui had originally estimated, though they discovered a few more hidden fire points. After selecting their route and accounting for the Secret Society's ambush positions and fire support, they returned to the reed marsh.
Lalu was the first to strike. Four black wings extended from his back, and dark, lustrous feathers drifted everywhere, the evil energy tainting the air.
...Three years later, Zi Qing finally refined the flower spirit she had captured at the tournament into her sea of consciousness, turning it into a pink crystal. The flower spirit’s magic was gone, but her consciousness remained, sealed within the pink crystal. She knew she could not break the seal now; even if she did, she would be completely consumed by her opponent.
There was even a moment when Kim Jong-ho thought Woo-cheon was not a Saturnian at all, but an alien—for no Saturnian’s mind could be as erratic as his.
They looked at each other, then turned away with feigned indifference, leaving the group exiting the city in twos and threes to return to their respective inns.
"My Lord, the Situ family members have arrived. The horses and carriages are stowed on the east side of the second deck, and the guards and servants are on the east side of the third deck," A-Shun reported to Xie Dongli in his cabin.
They couldn't stop selling to the Blue City Palace just because they sold to its rival, the Heaven-Splitting Sword Sect. If the Heavenly Star Gate hadn't happened to be the "target for total annihilation" that Qi Yu was after, this might not have been a duel between two sides, but a three-way war.
The knights at the front of the formation raised their weapons, moving with calm precision to flank the sides, instantly forming a tight military array.
Richard looked at the Chinese faces before him, feeling a momentary sense of disorientation. For the past few days, he had been staying at a Chinese hospital for training, seeing far too many Chinese patients.
The Anping municipal government attached great importance to this project; whether it was investment or publicity, everything was handled according to the highest standards.
A single wandering Gu worm wove through the void, exerting force like a small weight moving a thousand pounds, tapping lightly against the iron staff time and again.
Chen Mu was in a bad mood. Hearing Lin Siyuan speak like that, he said nothing and drove away.
Hearing the commotion, Feng Yuehua and the others set down their work and hurried to greet Li Shaolong.
The three-month visa for China was too difficult to obtain, while Southeast Asian countries offered visa-free entry. Because of this, many travel agencies in Thailand and the Philippines had even launched "medical tourism" packages specifically for European and American patients.
Bai Suzhen’s light, clear voice drifted over, and before Hall Master Hu could look up, she stepped onto a flying rainbow and vanished into the distance as a ghostly light.
Immediately, the expressions of everyone present shifted from surprise to delight, then to admiration, and finally... to reverence.
Elder Shen’s condition had improved significantly in recent days. Following the doctor’s orders, he took his medication on time, set aside the group’s affairs, and began tending to the flowers and plants in his backyard.
Originally, he had thought the Mountain-Crushing Fist was merely an ordinary martial art, but he hadn't expected that, through refinement, it would possess such formidable power.
Zhang Li did not notice the stunned, slack-jawed expressions of the large group of cultivators, including the Mountain God of Fumo, the Iron-Blooded Commander, Commander Wu Tao, Lin Shuang, Lin Kuan, Huang Yajing, and Huang Feiying.
"Xin Yue... she mortgaged the family’s land to me. Why would I refuse her?" Granny Jiang replied, looking distressed.
The young man let out a long, shrill whistle, and a magnificent silver Pegasus descended from the sky, nuzzling against his side.
