Chapter 62: The Great Achievement Completed
[Skill Book: Soul-devouring Hand]
Once the signature skill of the most popular DNF profession, the Berserker. Commonly known as "Head Grab."
Using a demonic hand to seize the enemy’s head, absorbing their blood essence and then unleashing it all at once to inflict damage.
Now that Berserkers have fallen out of favor, this skill has been forgotten by many.
When Luke drew this skill and finished reading its description, he nearly burst out laughing at his own thoughts.
“Will the system magically transform this skill into an Oil-devouring Hand? If you grab a human head, it absorbs blood; if you grab a machine’s head, does it absorb oil?”
As for the underlying principle?
Heaven only knows.
With skills like Whirling Staff that defy all laws of physics already existing, Luke wouldn’t be surprised at all if Oil-devouring Hand became real.
Perhaps even stranger skills will appear in the future.
Transmigration and rebirth are odd enough; what else could possibly shock him? Luke saw through it all.
“Huh, so many Demon Swordsman skills… Asura’s Evil Light Slash, Phantom Sword Dance, Soul-devouring Hand, that’s already three.”
So far, the guaranteed rewards had already given him six skill books, reaching the expectation he had set at the beginning.
On to the next round.
...
[Skill Book: Camouflage]
“Ah, it appeared!!!”
When this skill book flashed into his vision with the system’s prompt, Luke nearly jumped for joy!
Finally, a Gunner skill book!
And it’s a Mechanic skill.
It wasn’t that he favored Gunners or Mechanics, but this would synchronize perfectly with his existing mecha—combat power formed quickly, no need for a lengthy adaptation.
Unlike those chaotic Fighter skills, which, though he mastered each individually, required constant practice to chain together smoothly.
Mixing skills from different professions was a challenge for Luke.
Most skills from the eight Gunner professions were related to machinery, so he had none of those concerns.
Camouflage—a skill almost forgotten by Mechanics.
Yet it was one of Luke’s most desired!
In the game, almost no one used it, but in reality, this was a divine skill!
Camouflage: Using the most advanced technology from the Sky Realm, the user enters a state of optical camouflage, becoming invisible to the outside world.
Exactly! This was optical invisibility technology!
Like other Mechanic skill books, Luke received a blueprint, complete and vivid in his mind.
With this blueprint, he could build the optical invisibility device so many had dreamed of.
Luke vaguely recalled that this technology first appeared in the Marvel universe, seemingly in the film "Spider-Man: Homecoming."
That large aircraft commanded by Happy, responsible for transporting important S.H.I.E.L.D. items, used a basic form of optical camouflage.
Clearly a creation of Tony’s.
Luke remembered Tony later had an Iron Man suit—he forgot which Mark edition—that also used optical invisibility. That model specialized in stealth and infiltration, codenamed "Ghost."
“Seventh skill book,” Luke’s face bloomed with a radiant smile. “Could it be that I’m actually lucky?”
Immediately, without warning, the eighth book appeared.
“Wow! An eighth skill book! My luck’s off the charts this time…” Even Luke was stunned. He’d never been this fortunate before…
[Skill Book: M-3 Flamethrower]
A minor skill of the Female Launcher in DNF. Yet it was exactly what Luke needed!
He slapped his hand, learned it, and as before, a blueprint appeared in his mind, teaching him how to manufacture the M-3 Flamethrower.
Luke quickly conceived a way to retrofit it onto the G-0 War Lord.
M-3 Flamethrower: Wide-area flames, short-range spray. Requires fuel. Flame temperature depends on fuel type.
...
Only the final ten-draw round remained.
In the first nine, eight skill books appeared in quick succession! Luke was already more than satisfied.
The last round’s results were out soon.
“Huh? Even in the real world, this thing can appear…”
...
The night the magic box lottery ended, after his foster parents fell asleep, Luke slipped out of the house and worked overtime in his secret warehouse, pulling an all-nighter to finish the final modifications to the G-0 War Lord.
In the game, the G-0 War Lord possessed a complete arsenal, ready for battle upon summoning.
But in reality, Luke had assumed it would be similar; only after receiving the blueprint did he realize it only covered the mecha itself—no weapons included.
Like instant noodles with no seasoning packet—how infuriating!
The system’s lack of integrity was one thing, but Luke understood: after all, games and reality are worlds apart.
Like this time, he drew Asura’s Evil Light Slash.
In-game, that was a passive skill. But in reality, a skill was simply an ability mastered by a person, with no distinction between active or passive, nor any prerequisites for learning.
Based on the magic box results, Luke concluded his final modification plan as follows:
1. Install an optical camouflage generator on the G-0 War Lord.
2. Install: M-3 Flamethrower.
3. Give the G-0 War Lord a massage—no, a coating of secondary Adamantium alloy.
Luke had hoped to draw a skill book for Psychic Shield, to further enhance its level, but unfortunately, he didn’t get one. The shield’s range remained at a radius of two meters.
This posed a problem.
The G-0 War Lord was six meters tall and wide. If we take its radius as three meters, then the two-meter radius shield obviously couldn’t cover the War Lord.
Luke had to settle for coating it with a layer of secondary Adamantium alloy.
Forty-five kilograms of secondary Adamantium sounded like a lot, but in reality, including the portion used for grenade fragments, it amounted to about the size of a soccer ball.
After using 45 kilograms to plate a thin defensive layer on the G-0 War Lord, there was just a bit left.
“Let’s make do for now. I’ll find a way to raise the shield’s level in the future…”
As for the remaining ten kilograms of pure Adamantium, Luke custom-forged a giant sword for the G-0 War Lord: 6.5 meters long, about one meter wide.
The main body of the sword used high-strength titanium alloy—best material available on the market.
The surface was plated, like the War Lord itself, with pure Adamantium alloy.
Using plating, of course, couldn’t compare to weapons and armor made entirely of pure Adamantium, but—
The sword’s strength still far surpassed ordinary metals.
How absurdly strong is Adamantium alloy?
Luke saw a bizarre scene through Christina’s simulated calculations.
Simulation showed: When a Dassault Rafale fighter jet from France fired a MICA missile straight at the G-0 War Lord, the Adamantium-plated surface suffered no damage whatsoever, but…
The titanium alloy inside was somewhat damaged, and even the internal structure of the mecha was shaken.
Yet the overall mecha still retained combat capability.
Such defensive strength was entirely acceptable for Luke at this stage, given his limited resources.
Besides, he didn’t expect the War Lord to take on Thanos.
It was enough if it could handle Whiplash and Justin Hammer’s Iron Soldiers.
Without the Adamantium plating, things would be much worse.
Simulation showed: A MICA missile hit it head-on, and the G-0 War Lord would immediately be paralyzed, unable to move.
This deeply impressed Luke with the importance of materials!
He thought, “When the opportunity arises, I’ll have to get more Adamantium. Maybe even Vibranium. I remember, besides Wakanda, Vibranium also exists in Antarctica.”
Luke piloted the Gale, swaying its large rear as he approached the G-0 War Lord.
The six-meter-tall mecha’s hatch opened downward, and Luke maneuvered the Gale inside.
The two mechas combined internally, and the hatch closed.
Suddenly, the War Lord’s eyes lit up, and the whole machine came to life.
The Gale, now, was like the heart of the G-0 War Lord.
