Chapter Sixty-Five: Xia Mi
Two days passed slowly.
Lu Mingfei observed Su Xiaoqiang for the thirty-ninth time, quietly confirming again and again that this fellow was not a Dragon King and possessed no dragon blood. He sighed deeply; he truly could not imagine who else could be the unknown Dragon King.
On the other side, Su Xiaoqiang had also noticed Lu Mingfei secretly watching her, but she did not speak up. Instead, she quietly indulged in a sense of delight and pride within herself.
I really am quite charming, aren’t I!
But, it seems Xiao Lu is a bit insecure. He only looks at me and doesn’t dare to confess his feelings, even though he gazes at me so many times each day. Can’t he muster a bit of courage just once? Such a coward! Hmph!
“How have you been lately?”
Chu Zihang, seeing the two walking together after school, could not help but approach and ask.
He had observed as well. These past two days, Lu Mingfei seemed especially attentive to Su Xiaoqiang, sometimes so restless in his gaze that he didn’t bother to conceal it—just like a boy in adolescence wanting to confess but troubled by something, unable to speak up.
Perhaps he needed a little help.
“Alright, I suppose,” Lu Mingfei answered nonchalantly.
“There’s really no need to fret so much. Sometimes, if you’re just a bit bolder, love will come rushing toward you.” For once, Chu Zihang took the initiative to encourage.
“Huh?” Lu Mingfei’s eyes showed surprise; he didn’t know why his senior would say such a thing. Moreover, Chu Zihang’s smile seemed exceptionally warm now, lacking the usual cold, steely demeanor.
What was going on?
What happened?
Before he could ponder further, a graceful figure dashed over from nearby. The young woman threw herself at Chu Zihang, who instinctively caught her, bewildered as he looked at the pretty girl he didn’t know, yet who felt oddly familiar.
“Senior, is this the love you spoke of?” Lu Mingfei quietly added from the side.
“I—I don’t know,” Chu Zihang stared dumbfounded at the girl. Her expression seemed aggrieved, sad, and pained. The beautiful girl said nothing, simply venting her feelings by punching Chu Zihang hard, muttering, “Chu Zihang, you jerk! You big jerk! Ah, ah, ah!”
Her punches were not forceful—more like a spoiled child’s gestures. As she struck him, two clear tears rolled down her cheeks. She bit her lip, and when she raised her fist to strike again, intending to hit him hard, she found herself lacking the strength.
Chu Zihang was utterly lost; he knew this wasn’t something he had done. All the girl wanted was to vent as Xia Mi, nothing more.
“This young lady…”
“I’m Xia Mi!” Xia Mi sat atop him, crying like someone cruelly abandoned.
“Senior, I never expected you to be like this.” Lu Mingfei quietly stepped back, looking at him in shock.
“It’s not what you think, I…”
“Don’t say anything, I understand everything,” Lu Mingfei interrupted, sighing and smiling knowingly. He really did understand, and the more he did, the happier he felt.
He could feel that the girl possessed dragon blood—and not weak blood at that. She was at least a powerful second-generation, almost at the level of a young Dragon King, very much like a Dragon King stripped of her dragon bones.
“What are you laughing at?” Xia Mi turned, glaring fiercely at Lu Mingfei. She clenched her fists, but in the end didn’t dare to confront this little monster directly, only stared at him menacingly.
“N–nothing. If there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave. You two go on, I won’t disturb you,” Lu Mingfei said with an awkward smile.
It was obvious she could tell he was the instigator of this situation. Probably because his laughter had been too uninhibited, Xia Mi easily noticed something was off.
But there was nothing she could do about Lu Mingfei now. Her strength, at most, was top-tier second-generation, far inferior to Lu Mingfei at the young Dragon King level.
“Hmph!” Xia Mi snorted coldly and turned to look at the still bewildered Chu Zihang beneath her. She felt a kind of helpless frustration—he had clearly been tricked, and badly at that.
At this moment, she could have easily exploded right then and there with Chu Zihang, using the cocoon’s assistance to reclaim her dragon bones. Xia Mi sensed that Chu Zihang hadn’t fused with her dragon bones, but was simply using some kind of vessel to wield their power.
So, she could use the cocoon inside Chu Zihang, along with her residual authority, to guide the process and seize the vessel before he even realized, extracting her own power from it.
But would that really be right?
Not to mention what would happen to Chu Zihang after losing the vessel—that was unimportant! Completely irrelevant! Who would care about such trivialities?
If she took back her power, the ever-watchful Lu Mingfei might intervene. Though he appeared to be a carefree bystander, if things got out of hand, he might step in to interfere.
Xia Mi could clearly see the fierce lion lurking in Lu Mingfei’s eyes. For her own safety, it was better not to reclaim the power of the dragon bones just yet, and instead stay by Chu Zihang’s side as Xia Mi.
“Um… Xia Mi…”
“You idiot! You’re even dumber than my brother!” Xia Mi snapped again.
“…”
Pinned beneath her, Chu Zihang was silent. He truly didn’t know what wrong he had committed, why this familiar-seeming girl was venting atop him. He even felt a bit aggrieved—he was Constantine, King of Bronze and Flame, yet he couldn’t resist this girl.
He could sense that she was also a hybrid, and a strong one at that, possessing power much like his own. She appeared to be a hybrid of the Bronze and Flame line as well.
“Do you know what’s going on right now?” Xia Mi demanded sharply.
“I—I… I’m Constantine? You are…”
Chu Zihang looked at the girl, feeling his own timidity aligning with Constantine’s. Perhaps this girl was his former lover, but now he had lost the memories he once had, leaving only a sense of familiarity.
“Constantine?”
Xia Mi laughed in exasperation. Her chest heaved rapidly as she adopted a tone of reckless resignation. “Fine, fine, you’re Constantine, King of Bronze and Flame, so powerful, so impressive! Then do you remember who I am?”
“You… you were my lover?”
“Yes, you’re right, absolutely right! You finally remembered, what a miracle!” Xia Mi covered her face with one hand, her feelings a tangled mess.
“I’m sorry…”
