Chapter 85: The History of the Mo Tribe (Part Three)
On the lakeshore behind these mountains, the tides of spiritual energy surged from all directions, blowing the water against the banks. Trees leaned to the ground, and the clothes on Gu Yi’s body fluttered wildly in the wind, rustling with force. The violent outpouring of spiritual energy always emitted a harsh, grating hiss—intense, rising in temperature, almost unbearable.
The sword in Gu Yi’s hand was shedding its floral aura. Shu Yu, furious and nearly in tears, urged, "...Quick, strike, strike now..."
Mo Chi let out a mad laugh, advancing step by step toward Shu Yu, his momentum unstoppable.
Gu Yi could not strike. The Flower Sun Sword, with its blossoming dragon form, could shape a dragon and gather its spirit—a supreme sword technique. But Mo Chi’s shadow was ghostly, his speed terrifyingly fast; the chance of landing a blow was slim.
So he had to change swords.
Here, he would unleash the Flower Sun Sword’s second form: Sword Wandering in the Sea of Flowers—body as light as a swallow, swift as a fleeting moment, the fastest sword!
Shu Yu’s voice grew weaker and more ethereal, yet stubbornly she continued to cry out, "Strike...strike...strike!"
Hum!
As her words faded, the dispersed floral aura suddenly began to condense and gather again. This time, the spiritual energy did not converge on the sword, but climbed over Gu Yi’s body, gradually radiating multicolored lights.
Mo Chi gave it a glance, somewhat puzzled, "What sword is this?"
Shu Yu lowered her head, but clenched her fists tightly. The sound of pu~pu~pu~ echoed—the tender green vines breaking through the earth.
"Hm?" Mo Chi watched curiously, "What are you two doing?"
Whoosh!
On the lake’s surface, Shu Le barely floated, somehow in silent accord. She knew Mo Chi’s attention was already on Shu Yu and Gu Yi, so, burning her last reserves of spiritual energy, she hurled her sword, attacking Mo Chi from behind.
"Foolish," Mo Chi said calmly, his left palm striking backward with a thunderous blow.
Shu Le’s eyes widened, arms crossed in defense, but she was still sent flying.
Mo Chi fixed his gaze on Gu Yi, "Your sword technique is fine, but your cultivation is lacking. The time you need to gather power is—hm?"
Gu Yi’s figure flashed!
Mo Chi instinctively tried to move, but a sudden binding sensation at his feet made him frown; this must be Shu Yu’s doing. When one wants to move but their feet are held fast, there’s a controlled inertia—the inertia dragged Mo Chi’s body backward, while Gu Yi’s sword was already at his face.
Countless battles had engrained instinct; that instinct warned him Gu Yi’s sword move was extraordinary, so he must dodge.
"The coordination is real, but still foolish."
Crack!
Mo Chi tried to break free!
Shu Yu, prone on the ground, suffered a backlash from the exertion, unable to stop herself from coughing up blood. Yet, even in such moments, she was determined to persist.
The stubbornness of the Mo Clan manifested now; from her palms, she channeled the last of her spiritual energy into the underground vines.

"Remarkable."
The recently fractured vines quickly revived, wrapping around his ankles once more, impossible to break free.
Yet Mo Chi accelerated his backward fall. Centered on him, the surrounding ground suddenly cracked in an irregular pattern.
Boom!
It happened in an instant.
Vines bound, Gu Yi’s sword arrived, Mo Chi fell backward—and the ground was torn up beneath him!
A chunk of earth was wrenched up, as if there had been paving stones here, forcibly pried open!
Mo Chi used his feet, entwined with vines, to lift that chunk of land. The spectacle was nothing short of astonishing.
Gu Yi would have flown past, skimming the ‘true paving stone’ and Mo Chi’s face, but in mid-flight he abruptly changed direction, thrusting his sword downward at Mo Chi!
Swish swish swish!
Mo Chi spun, his feet wrapped in vines, whirling through the air, the lifted paving stone spinning with him. Shu Yu’s vines could not restrain him at all.
This was what Gu Yi anticipated. He knew the binding force was not weak, yet Mo Chi could still spin and evade within it...
No way to win.
Gu Yi simply dispersed his floral aura, letting it scatter chaotically onto the ground. Mud, dust, stones, sand—all were swept up at once, engulfing the three on the bank in a fog several meters high.
Mo Chi covered his mouth, coughing twice. "Little one, your sword technique is impressive, but does it only kick up dirt?"
But Gu Yi had already slipped away, heightening his sensitivity to spiritual energy. In an instant, he located Shu Yu and Shu Le, grabbed the closer Shu Yu, then snatched the distant Shu Le.
Before the yellow haze on the ground could clear, he pushed his speed to the limit—like a flash of white light, darting into the dense mountain forest!
Damn it!
Both Shu Yu and Shu Le lost to Mo Chi!
How could I hope to win?
If not now, when would I run?
To stay would be death!
The scenery rushed backward. Shu Yu coughed twice more, "What...what are you doing?"
Gu Yi replied, "Isn’t it obvious? I’m taking you two and fleeing!"
Shu Yu frowned, bearing her pain, and insisted, "How could the Luyang Institute have a coward like you?"
It’s not about cowardice.
I know we can’t win.
I’m not like Shu Le, so stubborn.
Speaking of Shu Le...

Gu Yi suddenly realized that proud Shu Le was silent. While running, he paused atop a tree trunk, shook Shu Le, "Wake up?"
No response.
Good thing we ran.
They’d been knocked unconscious.
Meanwhile, by the lake, Mo Chi’s stone fell, dust slowly dissipating. He glanced around at the suddenly quiet surroundings, puzzled.
They ran?
He sneered, "Another useless one from the Luyang Institute!"
Boom!
His spiritual energy erupted, soaring skyward, "You can’t escape!"
Far on the mountainside, Gu Yi heard the echo, panting heavily from his frantic sprint—thankfully, these two girls weren’t heavy.
This won’t work; simply running won’t do.
Any noise, and Mo Chi’s speed would catch up quickly.
Whoosh!
Gu Yi, carrying both, plunged deeper into the mountains, slowing his pace slightly, concealing his aura, and staying alert to his surroundings.
Shu Yu seemed to want to open her eyes, but she had no strength, "Where...are you taking us? Mo Chi’s power has reached the Path Unification stage—escape is impossible."
"Can’t you say something useful? Even just praising my looks would give me more energy to run!"
Shu Le was unconscious, her injuries unknown. Gu Yi had to quickly find a place to check her condition.
So he wasn’t in any mood to respond kindly.
Fortunately, in the dense forest, behind hanging vines, he spotted a cave.
Going to the Luyang Institute meant hiding in caves, coming out meant hiding in caves again, and even at the Small Courtyard Mountain—hiding in caves.
His fate seemed tied to caves.
"Put me down," Shu Yu struggled free from his hand, only to fall onto a jagged stone; there were no smooth stones here, so the fall must have hurt. Yet Shu Yu merely frowned, uttering not a sound.
Gu Yi had no time for her. He quickly moved two large stones to block the cave entrance, then quickly wrote talismans and pasted them onto the inner stone surface.
"What are you doing?" Shu Yu asked, panting.
Gu Yi explained, "Shu Le is injured, and it's damp and cold here, so I need to start a fire. But in the dark forest, if the stones only block the entrance, the firelight will seep through the cracks—like LED lights shining out—so we must use talismans to block it, otherwise it’s like sending a signal to Mo Chi telling him exactly where we are."
"LED lights? Signal?"
"No time to explain. Find a place to rest, I need to apply healing talismans to Shu Le."
Shu Le had battled Shu Yu, was wounded, then struck by Mo Chi. Her body was losing blood, her spiritual energy depleted. She remained unconscious, her injuries grave.
