Chapter 103: Synchronizing with the Divine Mind
Chapter 103: Mental Synchronization
"Pilot transfer for War Dragon Zero complete."
"Loading into cockpit."
"Protective fluid injection complete."
"Kinetic system connection initiated."
"Primary capacitor circuit nominal."
"Secondary capacitor circuit nominal."
"Tertiary..."
"Capacitor connection complete; activating high-energy reactor."
"Activation complete. Disengaging external power links."
"War Dragon chassis ready. Mental link sequence may commence."
Liu Shaoyu stood quietly inside the cockpit. The fluid surrounding his body exerted a gentle pressure; like the previous protective fluid, it was breathable. Yet, the composition of this liquid felt different. The combat suit clinging to his skin adjusted its temperature based on the external environment. Custom-made for the War Dragon, the suit was fashioned from an unknown material with such extraordinary flexibility that it felt as if he were wearing nothing at all.
For some reason, the cockpit remained pitch black, save for the sporadic blinking of unfamiliar instruments and the muffled sounds from outside.
"Mental link commencing. You may experience slight cerebral discomfort. Please relax your mind and keep your S-gene in a non-defensive state to facilitate the connection."
Liu Shaoyu nodded slightly. As for the S-gene? He still had no idea how to control that strange ability. After the last test, the Long family had only given him a specific rank; as for the ability type, they claimed it wasn't recorded because the equipment had been damaged too early.
Just as he thought this, light suddenly flooded his vision. The entire cockpit began to swirl with rainbow-like hues. Then, he heard the command "Begin," followed immediately by a sharp, piercing pain in his brain.
Liu Shaoyu had felt this stinging sensation a few times before, but it was always bone-chillingly agonizing. He was truly sick of this feeling.
"Mental synchronization at 10 percent... 20 percent... 25 percent." The operator stared at the screen, reporting the data rhythmically.
As the synchronization rate climbed, the stinging sensation faded, replaced by the feeling that his consciousness was slowly drifting away from his physical body. His vision began to blur, and he felt himself growing—growing larger and larger. It was a sensation he felt he had experienced before, yet this time, it felt impossibly real.
Liu Shaoyu felt his consciousness fully detach from his body. His sight turned to darkness; his sense of hearing grew hazy.
He tried to open his eyes, but his lids felt weighted with ten thousand pounds of lead. The sounds in his ears grew increasingly chaotic as he struggled.
"Synchronization rate at 80 percent... 85 percent... 90 percent."
"Approaching critical threshold. Releasing limb stabilizers."
"Pilot's vital signs are perfectly normal. War Dragon's vital signs show elevated temperature, nearing the danger threshold."
"Temperature around the energy reactor is too high."
"Structural support in Zone D32 is malfunctioning."
Despite the cascade of warnings, Wang Weifu, standing in the center of the monitoring room, did not panic. He rested his chin on one hand, the other crossed over his chest. The room was enclosed by high-strength, transparent glass—a standard feature for all high-level laboratories. It was said that under this level of protection, even a pulse cannon would take a long time to breach the walls. This rigorous security was meant to prepare for any subconscious reactions the War Dragon might have the moment the mental valves were fully opened.
In essence, the experiment involved transmitting a single consciousness between two different bodies. At this moment, both the War Dragon and Liu Shaoyu were equally living beings, sharing the same blood.
"Synchronization at 100 percent. Releasing mental valves."
The moment the voice command ended, a red switch was pressed. Within the massive base, a colossus stirred. Its entire body was encased in armor with a crimson metallic sheen, the design perfectly contouring to its musculature. It was clearly the form of an adult male. The face was obscured by an exaggerated helmet, designed to evoke the likeness of a dragon from ancient myths.
The instant the switch was thrown, the War Dragon’s arm surged upward. The surrounding scaffolding, unable to retract in time, snapped and fell. The sound of the collapsing metal echoed throughout the test base. The staff at the control console gasped at the sight, but Wang Weifu seemed to have anticipated it.
"Make a note of that. We need to recalibrate the timing between the scaffold retraction and the mental valve release," Wang Weifu directed. Behind him, specialized staff immediately began recording the incident to adjust future experiments. Fortunately, aside from the control console, all other areas were operated by robots, so there was no need to worry about casualties. Or perhaps, in some contexts, clones were not considered human.
The transition occurred in a flash. In that split second, Liu Shaoyu felt the control of his body return to him. He had never felt that opening his eyes required such immense effort, let alone twitching a finger.
"You need to distribute your strength more effectively," Wang Weifu’s voice transmitted through the audio system.
Recognizing the voice, Liu Shaoyu tried to exert more force than he ever had before to open his eyes.
*Boom!*
The image that suddenly appeared before him caused Liu Shaoyu to recoil instinctively, his massive frame slamming into the wall with a deafening thud. He was stunned by what he saw: he was a giant. This didn't feel like piloting a machine; it felt as if this *was* his body.
Liu Shaoyu rapidly processed the data regarding the War Dragon, eager to understand it more deeply.
"Thomas, engage the kinetic emulation system."
Like other mechs, the War Dragon was equipped with a kinetic emulation system, which mapped the machine’s power output to normal human mechanics, preventing errors in strength control caused by the change in size. However, a system was still a system. Such a drastic shift would inevitably take a toll. The increase in volume meant a proportional increase in the pressure exerted on the body. Inside the War Dragon, Liu Shaoyu had to withstand pressure many times greater than in his own body. This was why he had been sent to the Pangu training facility.
If there were the slightest flaw in his physical or mental state, the moment of mental synchronization would have burned his brain cells to ash. The War Dragon was, in reality, far more mysterious than the experimental data suggested. It functioned without failure for two reasons: each War Dragon was cloned with 100 percent of the pilot’s own DNA, and the pilots themselves possessed extraordinary physical and mental fortitude.
"How does it feel?" Wang Weifu asked, seeing that Liu Shaoyu had gained control.
"I feel..." Liu Shaoyu replied, "like I could destroy this planet."
