Chapter 111: Killing Two Birds with One Stone
Yet, the timing for the initiation was captured perfectly by Tang Ran.
With both teams' marksmen down, Nangua’s Kai immediately activated his ultimate and charged into the fray. He had been a step behind because he was flanking. As a jungler, Kai’s lack of reach is a disadvantage; a frontal assault would have inevitably drawn a barrage of slowing abilities, hindering his advance. That was why Nangua chose to strike from behind the blue buff area.
In this exchange, Lin Hao’s teammates were fighting with absolute ferocity. Seeing this, Shao Yi fully charged his first ability and flashed to the side, executing a flash-strike. However, it only chipped away a third of the health of the full-tank Kai. Just as Shao Yi unleashed the heavy-blade flash, Kai dodged the crowd control with the forward lunges of his second ability. After a brief moment of rigidity, Kai brought his blade down heavily, striking Baili Shouyue.
While Kai was entering the fray, both teams’ supports used their interference abilities. Unfortunately for Nangua, the opposing Sun Bin had cast his interference earlier. As a result, the defensive tower became empowered with golden light, its attack speed surged, and it began raining damage upon Kai in rapid succession. Since Kai was built as a full tank, one-shotting opponents was impossible, so Xiao Jue seized the moment to engage him in close-quarters combat. He didn't back down at all.
Lin Hao, playing Nuwa, surveyed the battlefield from a wide perspective, watching everything from afar. Her third ability was ready. The audience, watching through his viewpoint, held their breath. Yet, even when the opponents bunched up, Lin Hao did not release the skill. He was still aiming. While his previous prediction of Luna’s position with the third ability had been brilliant, this current "god-like descent" seemed overly hesitant.
Lin Hao frowned. While the opposing team appeared to be scurrying in panic, they had actually held back many of their abilities. "Hua Mulan’s flash-strike was used to peel for Shouyue. Luna is tethered to Lu Bu; she’ll be flying at me any second. Shouyue should still have his flash—it’s been about 120 seconds since he last used it, so he likely has it up."
These thoughts flashed through Lin Hao’s mind in an instant. The next moment, Luna finally appeared before him. Lu Bu followed up with his first ability and a flash; Tang Ran’s prediction was impeccable. He knew Luna wouldn't waste time on him—she was aiming for the backline. He could only use his flash to provide a burst of damage.
However, the moment Luna flew in, Lin Hao finally released his third ability, landing exactly slightly behind Shouyue. Luna’s burning moonlight blade pierced the ground, and she activated her second ability to pull him in.
But then, to Jiayue’s surprise, his second ability failed to interrupt Nuwa’s teleportation; it only applied a moonlight mark. What was going on? Was it unstoppable? He had no time to ponder; Lu Bu’s flash-strike had already arrived. A heavy, enchanted blow brought his health down to less than a quarter.
Meanwhile, in the heat of the battle ahead, Kai was dueling Shouyue, trapped with nowhere to retreat. Ultimately, with just a sliver of health left, Shouyue managed to finish off Kai in melee range. Although the tower’s interference had provided a boost, one must remember that Shouyue was already in poor condition; after killing Kai, he had only a single bar of health remaining. It meant every one of Xiao Jue’s close-range shots had landed.
Despite this, the aura of Nuwa’s third ability was fully charging—she was about to land. Xiao Jue glanced at the main battlefield: Lu Bu was entangled with Luna, Sun Bin and his own support Zhang Fei were merely observing, and Hua Mulan was at full health. In a fit of adrenaline, Yi Zheng used a reverse-flash to land directly in front of Hua Mulan.
Nuwa finally descended from the heavens. Upon landing, Hua Mulan immediately switched to her heavy blade and charged. Lin Hao didn't even look at Hua Mulan; he did only one thing: he unleashed his ultimate.
Light began to condense before Nuwa. Xiao Jue’s heart skipped a beat, but upon closer inspection, the beam wasn't aimed at him—it was grazing just past him. Did he miss? Seeing this, Xiao Jue decided to strike Nuwa with a basic attack. But at the very instant the ultimate’s light was about to fire, Lin Hao suddenly flashed to the left.
*Whoosh!*
"Command: Destruction" initiated. The AOE damage from Nuwa’s ultimate finally erupted, and the flash repositioned the beam. The trajectory perfectly covered both Baili Shouyue and the distant Luna. A stream of pure energy swept through, instantly depleting their health bars.
"Holy shit!"
"Holy shit!"
Yi Zheng and Xiao Jue, two top-tier KPL players, exclaimed in surprise almost simultaneously. He had killed two birds with one stone! The scene was so shocking that the live chat in every stream covering the match fell silent for a moment.
By releasing his ultimate in reverse and adjusting his position with a flash, he had managed to strike both Baili Shouyue and the distant Luna. However, a moment later, Lin Hao was obliterated by Hua Mulan’s combo; there was nothing he could do. He had pushed deep into the enemy’s tower, and with no flash left, his fate was sealed. All things considered, this trade was a massive win for Lin Hao.
Seeing this, Lu Bu and Sun Bin stopped fighting and retreated from the tower. The remaining members of the opposing team, Zhang Fei and Hua Mulan, were in poor health. Zhang Fei had taken massive true damage from Lu Bu, while Hua Mulan had absorbed significant AOE damage, including Lu Bu’s ultimate and the explosive damage from Nuwa’s second ability. Regardless, the momentum had been seized.
"Rage points from Jiayue +600."
"Rage points from Xiao Jue +900."
Having successfully harvested a wave of rage points, Lin Hao nodded in satisfaction and glanced at the chat. It was buzzing with discussion about the previous play.
"Why couldn't Luna’s second ability pull Nuwa?"
"Yeah, I’m curious too. It acted just like an unstoppable effect."
"I didn't even notice that; I was just shocked by Haozi’s earth-shattering ultimate taking out two people."
"My classmate saw my favorite streamer being this awesome and looked at me with newfound respect."
Lin Hao thought for a moment and decided to offer a brief explanation. "The moment Nuwa activates her third ability, she is unstoppable. I imagine many players who don't play Nuwa, or aren't proficient with her, might not know that, so it’s worth mentioning."
Lin Hao figured that even Jiayue, the opposing Luna, probably wasn't fully aware of it. He had calculated it perfectly, knowing Jiayue would try to use Lu Bu as a stepping stone to dive in, which was why he had saved that third ability.
