Chapter Twenty-Nine: A Profitable Venture with No Losses
This was another small detail about Li Bai. In Li Bai’s “Toast to Advancing,” the third section allows him to return to his original position with his first skill. Although it doesn’t deal damage, it immediately puts his skill into cooldown. If he doesn’t use it, he has to wait a few more seconds before it can cool down again.
At this moment, Nine-tailed Fox was eager to launch another round of his first skill! After all, he was on home turf and felt confident. The blue zone’s location made it easier for his team to support from both mid and bottom lanes, and Di Renjie in the bottom lane could block off the intersection between the blue zone and the river, cutting off Guan Yu’s escape.
Indeed, Di Renjie from the bottom lane was rushing over enthusiastically. But just then, the sound of a flash ability echoed.
A bald figure suddenly flashed over the steep mountain wall of the blue zone from the river, appearing right in front of Nine-tailed Fox.
“What the hell, why is this bald guy here!” Nine-tailed Fox was stunned for a moment.
It was Jin Chan!
In the next instant, Jin Chan immediately unleashed his first and second skills—no aim was needed. The golden hoop locked onto Li Bai, and nine talismans followed, exploding on Li Bai again and again!
Jin Chan’s support was perfectly timed, especially his bold use of flash.
“Nice!” Lin Hao shouted, his hands flying as he spammed basic attacks.
The opposing Liu Chan, sticking to his strategy of harassment, also flashed in beside Jin Chan, slamming the ground with his mechanical claw and knocking Jin Chan up.
Unfortunately, Jin Chan had already unleashed his entire burst. With the talismans exploding and Guan Yu’s final slash, Li Bai was finally slain!
“First blood!”
Lin Hao’s Guan Yu claimed the kill, though he hadn’t intentionally timed it to steal it—it just so happened that his last strike finished Li Bai off.
“Rage value from Nine-tailed Fox +600!”
The notification kept popping up in Lin Hao’s mind, and with this kill, he felt as if he were soaring.
The rewards from this wave, combined with the triple bonus from Nine-tailed Fox’s streamer status, far exceeded the rage value he’d get from a normal match.
“The enemy Li Bai is probably Nine Heavens Fox, he must be fuming right now.”
“Haha, Jin Chan is so fierce! He just flashed in and used his skills, not caring at all about the Ah Dou chasing him.”
“I’ve played King of Glory for five years and never seen a Guan Yu this bold—harassing the jungle right from the start!”
“But there’s no way they’ll get out alive, right? Trading one for two is a bit of a loss.”
“Hao Ran: I don’t care if I die, as long as your jungle is blown up!”
“I suddenly want to see Nine-tailed Fox’s reaction—it must be hilarious. Let me check his stream real quick.”
Over in Nine-tailed Fox’s stream, his enraged roar filled the air.
“This is blatant targeting! Damn it, who’s that Guan Yu on the other side?”
“I didn’t even get a kill and just gave up first blood. It’s over, this is a disaster.”
Nine-tailed Fox stared at his death screen, seeing Guan Yu and Jin Chan surrounded.
As soon as Shen Mengxi saw Guan Yu appear in the blue zone, he immediately turned back, sprinting toward the blue zone.
His original plan was to use Shen Mengxi’s level two advantage to support the top lane, see if he could chip away at Guan Yu’s health, or at least help Bai Qi secure the river crab before heading back mid for the next river crab.
But who could have guessed Guan Yu would skip lane entirely and invade Li Bai’s blue jungle!
If the enemy isn’t even in lane, what’s the point of going top?
When Shen Mengxi returned, he found Di Renjie and Liu Chan blocking the blue zone’s exit, front and back.
On Lin Hao’s side, Yu Ji had lost the lane push to Di Renjie and now could only use ranged skills to try to help her teammates in the blue zone.
“We’ve overachieved this round, dying is a worthy sacrifice!” Lin Hao’s voice was full of delight. He glanced at Li Bai’s icon at the top left—it was still grayed out.
He must be watching too.
At that moment, Bomb Cat circled over from the area between the blue zone and the first mid tower.
The encirclement was almost airtight. If Lin Hao and Jin Chan wanted to escape, Di Renjie was at the bottom, Shen Mengxi to the left, and Liu Chan was holding position nearby.
Only the exit to the right remained, but that led straight to the enemy’s bottom outer and inner towers—a dead end.
Just then, his sprinting state was off cooldown again. Before Bomb Cat could arrive, Lin Hao quickly dodged Liu Chan’s second skill with a slight turn of his horse’s head.
He then circled behind the blue buff and slashed once more!
Whoosh!
The blow sent the blue buff flying yet again. Knowing he was doomed, Lin Hao didn’t waste a single move—instead, he recalled on the spot.
He casually opened the chat and sent, “Sorry.”
“You have been slain.”
Bomb Cat finally arrived, and Di Renjie completed the encirclement.
Lin Hao’s health was less than half after his battle with Li Bai—all of Li Bai’s damage had been focused on Guan Yu, and it still stung.
There was little suspense in the outcome—Guan Yu and Jin Chan both fell.
On the surface, this looked like a win for the other side: trading one for two and losing a wave of minions top.
But Nine-tailed Fox was genuinely furious!
This Guan Yu was relentless, throwing himself at him without fear.
“Just wait, I’m going to hunt him down until he explodes. You think I’m some sickly cat, little Guan Yu? I’m the king of the jungle, Nine-tailed Fox!”
He spat threats, but the chat in his stream was filled with laughter.
“Who is this Guan Yu? Is he really here to snipe?”
“Recalling to taunt—he’s taking it to the next level. Even as a viewer, I’m getting angry.”
“Is this a streamer pulling a stunt? But that can’t be right—everyone at this level is taking the game seriously.”
“My verdict: not as skilled as Yaoyang.”
“Listen up, everyone: Guan Yu is Shark’s number one, Da Xiang—Hao Ran. He’s here today just to crush Nine-tailed Chicken!”
“Who’s Hao Ran? Never heard of him, but with moves like that, he’s pretty cocky!”
“Just a clown... But now I kind of want to download Shark and check out Hao Ran’s stream.”
For Lin Hao, victory wasn’t the main concern.
What mattered most to him was his rage value!
With rage, he could grow stronger. Lin Hao was coveting those skill points in the shop.
After respawning and returning to lane, Lin Hao played it safe, clearing minions under his tower. But after losing two waves of minions, he had already fallen behind Bai Qi in gold.
“Ding ding~!”
“Don’t play like that.”
After dying, Jin Chan had cooled off. He’d been fired up during the fight, but after checking the kills and Guan Yu’s gold, he couldn’t help but tap Lin Hao twice and send him a reminder.
