Chapter 72: The Intricacies of Tower Diving to Kill the Guardian
The game continued.
After returning home to recover, Lin Hao headed to the top lane again, helping Bag’s Sun Shangxiang dive under the tower to take down the enemy Bai Li Shou Yue. With the momentum shifting, the opposing team began to lose ground frequently. They took the dragon, pushed towers, and the situation was looking very promising.
At the ten-minute mark, nearly all the enemy’s outer towers had been destroyed, except for the second mid lane tower. Meanwhile, Lin Hao quietly sold his support item. In truth, he had only bought a three-hundred gold gem as his support item and never upgraded it to Shadow of Infinity.
“Yuan Ge relies heavily on his equipment. If I want to deal the damage Yuan Ge is capable of, apart from the high-end Infinity Blade, all the essential items must be built,” Lin Hao said. “So I’m not upgrading to Shadow of Infinity. I’ll just sell the gem instead.”
At this point, the economic gap between the teams had widened. Even as a support, Lin Hao’s gold was near the enemy’s second position and was five hundred higher than their third position, Bai Li Shou Yue.
“Let’s gank Old Master in the top lane and start the dragon immediately after,” Yi Fan said.
Old Master was now well-equipped; Yi Fan alone couldn’t handle him and could die if caught, so he called for backup. Fortunately, Han Han and the others had already farmed their way to the top lane and secured vision in the enemy red jungle. Han Han lunged forward like a tiger, preparing to flank from the red jungle. Xin Ran and Bag followed closely behind.
Almost simultaneously, Old Master suddenly flashed forward, binding Ma Chao at a distance! Right after, three tough guys—Shen Mengxi, Dong Huang, and Yao—burst out from the bushes.
“Damn, did the whole team really come for a counter-gank?” Yi Fan cried out, then was instantly killed by the combined focus of four enemies.
Lin Hao took the opportunity to push the mid lane. His original plan was to bring the wave up while his teammates ganked, so that once the fight was over, they could push mid together. But unexpectedly, the opposing team never revealed themselves on the map; instead of defending at home, they had all rushed to help Old Master ambush!
A five-man team is truly different—organized and disciplined. In the peak ranks, it’s rare to see this kind of coordination. In low elo, teammates don’t have such awareness for counter-ganks. In high elo, everyone has their own ideas, and some just mute their mics and play solo. How could you expect them to cooperate?
Yi Fan’s Ma Chao still had some health left; despite being drained by Dong Huang, he held on for a bit. Until Han Han dove in with a tiger leap, and Ma Chao’s health bar was wiped out, falling in battle.
Lin Hao watched for a moment, then switched his focus back. With his awareness, it was clear the top lane fight would be favorable. The enemy’s ambush was excellent, but they hadn’t anticipated that Lin Hao’s side had also sent three players to gank Old Master—reinforcements were on the way.
Sun Shangxiang’s positioning was good, and Pei Qinhu timed his entry perfectly. The enemy’s skills were on cooldown, and they relied heavily on abilities. Shen Mengxi, Dong Huang Taiyi, and Yao had all used their ultimates on Ma Chao, and Yao had finished his combo.
There was no need for Lin Hao to join the fight; by the time Yuan Ge reached the top lane, the battle would be over.
So...
Mid lane had only Bai Li Shou Yue left!
Lin Hao saw the minion wave slowly entering the tower and spotted Bai Li’s red line. He was positioned just ahead of the second mid tower!
Lin Hao hid in the bush between the blue buff pit and the remains of the first mid tower, concealing his main body, then cast his first skill!
He was going to try tower-diving to kill Bai Li Shou Yue!
He had enough gold, which meant enough damage. The key was precise execution and control of the details!
Bai Li Shou Yue was one of the hardest marksmen for Yuan Ge to kill, mainly due to his close-range burst. If he aimed well, it could be deadly.
Yuan Ge’s puppet’s dash has a stiff animation; normally, Bai Li can react in time. If he’s sniping, he can use his second skill to target the puppet, instantly cast third skill to escape, and potentially kill the puppet outright.
If luck favors Bai Li, the puppet is instantly destroyed and Yuan Ge’s main body is frozen. If not, Yuan Ge might still be swapping positions, possibly ending up frozen right in front of Bai Li.
Game over.
This was a classic Yuan Ge versus Bai Li scenario: Bai Li aiming, Yuan Ge’s puppet pushing into the tower with the wave.
Seeing Lin Hao’s puppet, Bai Li didn’t panic.
He had just sat down and started aiming. To be safe, he waited for the puppet to approach, then planned to unleash a close-range second skill at the right moment.
As the puppet neared Bai Li, Lin Hao slowed with third skill and then dodged to the side!
Footwork!
The next moment, Bai Li Shou Yue’s second skill was released at point-blank range, immediately followed by his ultimate!
But due to the puppet’s side-step, Bai Li’s third skill missed.
The puppet survived!
Lin Hao instantly used fourth skill to dash, sending Yuan Ge’s puppet sprinting right up to Bai Li!
Then, with a two-one swap, left hand steering and right hand swapping, two quick maneuvers—Yuan Ge’s swap was completed in a blink!
After swapping, he knocked Bai Li into the air!
When Bai Li landed, he frantically tried to use his second skill, only to find it was unavailable!
Lin Hao finished with a cross-slash; Bai Li’s health bar instantly dropped to a sliver, then a basic attack. Without even glancing at Bai Li, Lin Hao jumped out of the tower with fourth skill, leaving in style!
“Solo kill!” Lin Hao declared.
“Damn, Yuan Ge tower-dived and solo killed Bai Li Shou Yue!”
“That close-range footwork was slick—Bai Li missed his third skill. Otherwise, Yuan Ge’s puppet would have been vaporized instantly.”
“Hao’s micro was so detailed this time!”
The chat was flooded with praise.
“Everyone, master this move and you’ll have no trouble against Bai Li in most fights!” Lin Hao boasted. “The technique comes down to two details: when Bai Li is aiming, let the puppet approach on foot, then use third skill to slow and side-step at the moment you reach him. At this point, Bai Li usually chains second and third skills to deal with you, but his third skill’s hitbox isn’t wide, so you can dodge it with positioning.
“Follow up with fourth skill to dash right up to Bai Li. The second key detail is to swap positions quickly—otherwise, Bai Li can crouch and instantly press second skill to destroy your puppet.
“After the swap, use cross-slash for a guaranteed hit. Bai Li’s health will drop to nothing; finish with a basic attack or second skill if needed, and then use your ultimate to leave in style!”
