Chapter 103: The Second Generation of Bacterial Bombs

Chu Xiao felt a surge of joy in his heart—he had finally devised a way to extend the weapon’s range!
“Deputy General Chu, what method have you come up with?” Ren Boyuan asked, fully confident that Chu Xiao had found a solution, as he always managed to turn dire situations around.
“We can add a booster to all our weapons!” Chu Xiao replied.
“Of course! Why didn’t we think of that before? Adding a booster could greatly increase the range—preliminary estimates suggest an additional one thousand meters!”
Ren Boyuan immediately adopted Chu Xiao’s suggestion and mobilized his team. Within half a day, they had produced the finished product.
“Prepare for test firing!”
“Aim! Fire!”
With a thunderous boom, the distant target exploded into fragments.
“Success! We did it!”
The moment the target was struck, everyone applauded enthusiastically, relieved that they no longer had to endure attacks without retaliation.
Soon, the news reached Commander One’s ears. He was deeply gratified and proud to have such a capable officer as Chu Xiao on his side.
“Begin mass production immediately, then distribute them accordingly!”
“Yes, Commander!”
While Chu Xiao and his team hurriedly worked on production, the Dark King was also busy enhancing various machines. Just as Chu Xiao had suspected, the Dark King was not concerned with range but focused instead on increasing destructive power.
“One, we cannot only focus on weapons; other areas must not be neglected. We must accelerate the production of protective gear!”
“During combat, no skin should be exposed—get a batch of goggles produced quickly!”
From this battle, Chu Xiao discerned that while the Dark King upgraded his machines, he was simultaneously advancing his poison gas and biological weapons.
The most terrifying threat was not the Dark King’s machines, but the toxins and bacteria developed by Louis.
“What use are you to me? After two failures, you can just die!”

Terrified, Louis immediately dropped to his knees, begging for mercy. He felt as if his body was being pierced by an overwhelming electric current, as though reaching the limits of his endurance.
“Dark King… my lord! This was only the first generation—I’ve developed a second-generation bacterial bomb!”
The Dark King withdrew the current from Louis's body and said, “This is your final chance. If you fail again, you will vanish from this world forever.”
“My lord, I will not fail this time! The second-generation toxin I developed can penetrate directly through the cornea, destroying it, then spread through the eyes to corrode the body, eventually turning it to blood and water!”
Louis’s eyes turned red, close to madness. The Dark King laughed heartily upon hearing this.
“Just release the bacteria! I will command the machine army. If we don’t conquer China this time, you can die!”
“My lord, I believe we should attack America first. China is too strong; we should avoid its main force and take the smaller nations first!”
Louis harbored a deep grudge against America, wishing to wipe it off the map.
“Fool! Do you teach me how to act? China is the strongest nation in the Nine Provinces. Once it falls, the others are insignificant!”
“Yes, my lord, your wisdom is unmatched.” Louis dared not argue further.
The next day, Chu Xiao’s health had slightly improved. He was dining with Wang Lulu when an alarm sounded.
“The Dark King is coming! The Dark King is coming!”
Chu Xiao immediately stopped, stood up, and told Wang Lulu to stay safe and wait for his return.
He rushed to the front lines and saw a vast, black mass approaching—it was the Dark King’s machine army.
“Bring it on! Let the Dark King taste our power!”
“Everyone, prepare for battle! Let’s give the Dark King a grand welcome!”
Chu Xiao contacted the other three nations to inquire about their situations. They had only been harassed, with no large-scale attacks.
Chu Xiao immediately understood the Dark King’s strategy: to capture China in one decisive strike while using minor skirmishes to hold the other nations at bay.
“Warriors, most of the Dark King’s machine army is here. Today, we will let them come but not return!”
“Fire!” At Chu Xiao’s command, everyone pulled their triggers. The Dark King had relied on long-range attacks beyond human firepower—until now.
He was shocked that the weapon range had increased by a thousand meters in such a short time—far beyond his expectations.
“Louis, it’s your turn! Teach these damned humans a lesson!”

“Yes, my lord!” Louis responded.
Chu Xiao watched countless spherical objects fly through the sky. They exploded midair, scattering white powder.
“Danger! Bacterial bombs! Everyone, put on your gas masks and goggles!”
The goggles were made from special materials that prevented even the smallest particles from entering.
However, some soldiers were caught off guard, and the powder got into their eyes. They instantly went blind.
They quickly lost combat effectiveness, writhing on the ground in agony. Their bodies were soon consumed by the powder, dissolving into pools of blood and water.
The sight terrified the others. Each soldier was filled with dread, fearing they might suffer the same fate.
Chu Xiao was shocked but quickly recovered. He drew some of the blood-like fluid from a fallen comrade with a syringe and dashed toward the bacterial research institute.
At the institute, he briefly explained the situation.
“We must develop an antidote as fast as possible. Our frontline soldiers can’t hold on much longer!”
Top bacteriology experts began analyzing the substance. After about an hour, Chu Xiao, growing anxious, asked, “Any progress? The frontline soldiers are on the brink!”
“It’s ready! Just mix this serum with clean water and have the soldiers rinse their eyes!”
Without waiting further, Chu Xiao sprinted back to the frontline with the antidote, instructing every soldier to wash their eyes immediately.
“Warriors, the Dark King is no longer fearsome. Let us defend by attacking! Take up your weapons and follow me out of the city to annihilate the machine army!”
“Destroy the machine army! Destroy the machine army!”
Morale soared as everyone’s eyes gleamed with deadly resolve.
“Charge! Take them down!”
All soldiers mobilized like they were fearless of death. When one fell, another stepped over the body, charging relentlessly at the machines.
Seeing their fearless advance, the Dark King felt a twinge of fear and immediately ordered a retreat.
Though the Dark King withdrew in time, over half of his machines were lost.
While the machine army was not completely annihilated, it suffered a severe blow and would need several days to regroup.
