Chapter Ninety-Seven: Rebuilding After the Disaster!
“Put all efforts into post-disaster reconstruction, adjust your states, and be ready for battle at any moment!” Chu Xiao spoke each word with deliberate force, every syllable resounding with weight.
“Understood!” came the unified response from all present. A new round of conflict was imminent.
In the United States, Mukos’s eyes burned red with fury.
“Louis! That traitor! How dare he show his face before me—he’s truly seeking death!” Mukos slammed his hand onto the edge of the table, crushing it into dust.
Auden watched the scene calmly, though he, too, was seething with anger. Not only had Louis betrayed the nation, but he had also engineered weapons for attacks against it.
How many soldiers had lost their lives because of him? Auden held a report in his hands, hesitating to reveal its contents.
Mukos glanced coldly at Auden and snapped, “What are you waiting for? Report immediately!”
Auden quickly opened the report, his eyes twitching at the stark, blood-red figures before him.
“Report: In this war, 2,156 lives were lost. Of these, 526 died from full-body corrosion caused by poison gas. The rest were primarily killed by Pluto’s machines.”
Mukos sneered, “Compile statistics on every American life lost to war. Sooner or later, there will be a reckoning. Louis will pay his blood debt in full!”
“Understood!” Auden bowed and left.
Losses in Northern Sands and Ou Qiang were relatively light, comparable to those in Jiuzhou. Upon learning that Louis had developed the poison gas, they wished nothing more than to see him torn to pieces.
The four-nation summit reconvened, this time in Yanjing City. Within the sealed, impenetrable conference room, five leaders gathered in a tight circle, with secretaries standing by each of them.
“I hereby declare the meeting officially open,” Chu Xiao’s magnetic voice gently fell.
The other four were the heads of the superpowers: Number One, Mukos, Church, and Oulis, each scrutinizing the others silently.
“We are here to discuss how to turn defense into offense,” Chu Xiao suddenly declared, watching their varied reactions.
Number One and Mukos remained composed, while Oulis and Church showed signs of surprise.
Oulis even rose to his feet.
“Is that truly possible?” he asked, his voice trembling. He had entertained such thoughts before, but reality had always crushed them. Now, with Chu Xiao voicing this possibility, it meant there was hope.
How could Oulis not be astonished?
“There is,” Chu Xiao replied slowly. “If I propose it, it means it can be done. But I must warn you—if we fail, Pluto’s retaliation will be even more devastating.”
“So we must prepare fully before making our move.”
“You may wonder why I, who once opposed a preemptive strike against Pluto, now support it. There are many reasons. The chief one is that Pluto’s assaults grow more savage each time, inflicting greater damage. If we continue to simply defend, we will be wiped out eventually.”
“The number of warriors is limited, and we have insufficient time to train new ones. Thus, seizing the opportunity to annihilate Pluto once and for all is our best strategy. If Pluto falls, weI'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
