Qingyang’s face darkened as he took out his phone and made a call.
“Hello, Miss Lin Ruoxue?”
“If all the people in the Lin family have that kind of attitude, then I’ll be returning to Southwest Asia tomorrow!”
Qingyang called without caring whether it was a suitable hour or whether she might already be resting, venting all the dissatisfaction in his heart.
On the other end, Lin Ruoxue had just been preparing to retire when she heard the fury in his voice. She hurriedly explained, “Mr. Qingyang, Elder Long has always had that sort of temper.”
“I hope you can be more understanding. After all, he’s an old man.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll meet all the conditions you proposed last time. You can withdraw two million from the company tomorrow!”
Lin Ruoxue knew that Qingyang had a powerful background and that he was capable of protecting the Lin family. She did not want to let him leave.
“All right, then. For your sake, I’ll put up with it a little longer.”
“As for the bodyguards Elder Long arranged for you, just send them all away. I don’t need anyone else interfering with my mood. With me, Qingyang, here, no one can lay a finger on you!”
“As for tonight, I was delayed because I went out drinking with my brothers. Otherwise, what the hell is a Black Samurai? Send one and I’ll kill one!”
Qingyang spoke with complete confidence.
Lin Ruoxue hurriedly responded, but she was so sleepy that she could barely keep her eyes open. After exchanging a few more words, they both hung up.
The next morning…
Su Ming rose early and went to his younger sister’s room. He then asked the hotel staff to arrange a car and took his sister to Longzhou First University of Performing Arts.
Her enrollment procedures were completed, but a fee of five hundred thousand had to be paid.
A middle-aged man glanced at Su Ming and said, “The tuition must be paid in full. We’re a prestigious school, and we often invite celebrities to serve as guest instructors. Sometimes even award-winning actors come to teach personally. All of that requires a considerable amount of money.”
“If the fees aren’t paid in full, her classes may be delayed.”
After hearing this, Su Ming nodded.
“I understand. I’ll do my best to pay the entire amount today. Please rest assured.”
“I’m entrusting my sister to you.”
Su Ming spoke with utmost solemnity.
“Yes, classes begin today. You can attend to your own affairs, but make sure the fees are paid promptly.”
“Otherwise, if her studies are delayed, the school will bear no responsibility.”

With that, the director of student affairs turned and walked away.
Su Ming went outside and saw Yingying sitting in a wheelchair, fidgeting with her hands. She seemed somewhat downcast.
“What’s wrong? It’s your first day of school. You should be happy!”
Su Ming crouched down, cupped his sister’s face in both hands, and smiled.
“Brother, am I holding you back?”
“I heard what he said just now. The tuition is five hundred thousand. If I didn’t go to school, that money would be enough for you to get married!”
“When our parents were still alive, they had planned to use the compensation from demolishing the old house to help you marry a wife. But now they’re gone, and I can’t help you with anything. I’m truly useless.”
At that, Su Yingying grew terribly dispirited, blaming herself for becoming a burden. Her face was filled with guilt.
“Yingying!”
Su Ming suddenly called her name in a stern voice.
Su Yingying froze. It was the first time she had seen her brother act so severely, and for a moment she became flustered.
“You’re my sister. Everything I do for you is worth it.”
“And I absolutely won’t allow you to dwell on such nonsense. You are not a burden. Remember this: without you, your brother would have lost the will to go on living. Do you understand?”
In an instant, Su Ming’s eyes softened.
The moment Su Yingying heard those words, she could no longer hold back her tears.
“Brother, I understand. I understand!”
She seized Su Ming’s hand and hurriedly promised, “I’ll study hard and won’t make you worry. I won’t let my thoughts run wild anymore.”
At last, having felt the depth of her brother’s love, Su Yingying was filled with a sense of satisfaction and security unlike anything she had known before. The final trace of tension in her heart vanished as well.
After comforting her for a while, Su Ming watched as his sister was wheeled into the classroom, where she began greeting her new classmates. Only then did he feel at ease enough to leave.
When he reached the school gates, Su Ming was preparing to take a bus.
Suddenly, cries rang out in the distance, drawing a large crowd of onlookers. It seemed that someone had fallen ill.
Su Ming had not intended to interfere, but then he suddenly remembered his teacher’s words.
“A knife in the left hand can take a life, but the healing gourd in the right hand must also save one. Only then can karmic debts be cleansed.”
With that thought, Su Ming walked over.
When he reached the crowd, he saw a girl in a long dress crouching on the ground, her face filled with panic. Lying before her was an elderly white-haired man with his eyes tightly shut, apparently unconscious.
“Is there a doctor? Please, someone, help me call a doctor!”
The girl raised her head and looked at everyone with pleading eyes.
“Don’t panic, miss. We’ve already called an ambulance. It’s on its way!”
A kindhearted passerby pointed toward the approaching medical staff, who were carrying a stretcher.
At that moment, a doctor in a white coat hurriedly crouched down.
“Mr. Lu’s heart condition has recurred. He needs emergency surgery immediately!”
After examining him for a moment, the male doctor spoke in a grave tone.
“Doctor, then hurry and take my grandfather to surgery!” the girl said anxiously.
“All right, I’ll make the arrangements now. Miss Lu, don’t worry!”
“Come over here, everyone. Put Mr. Lu on the stretcher.”

With a wave of the doctor’s hand, two staff members seized the old man’s arms and legs and prepared to lift him.
“Don’t move him! Otherwise, the pressure on his blood vessels could cause him to die on the spot!”
“It would be best not to move him at all!”
Seeing this, Su Ming stepped forward. Holding silver needles in his hand, he came before the old man and issued the warning solemnly.
“Who are you? Don’t cause trouble! This is a matter of life and death. If something happens, you won’t be able to take responsibility!”
“Move aside!”
The male doctor grew furious when this unfamiliar young man suddenly appeared to obstruct him and shouted angrily.
“You don’t even understand such basic medical knowledge. How did you ever become a doctor?”
“His cardiovascular system is blocked. If you move him now, there’s a very real chance the blood vessels will rupture. By then, even taking him to the hospital won’t save him!”
“Put him back on the ground. I can save him.”
Su Ming pointed at the old man and spoke in a deep voice.
“You can save him? Ha! Who do you think you are?”
“I’m Chen Weidong, chief physician at the First Military Medical University. Which hospital are you from? Show me your medical license!”
Hearing the confidence in Su Ming’s voice, Chen Weidong questioned him disdainfully.
The First Military Medical University was affiliated with Longzhou’s top hospital and was extremely famous. For someone as young as Chen Weidong to have become a chief physician was an extraordinary achievement. Moreover, doctors held a special profession and enjoyed considerable social status wherever they went.
Now, however, a young man was openly questioning him, and anger flared in his heart.
“I don’t work at a hospital, but I can save his life!”
“Put him down. I have a way!”
Su Ming repeated himself.
