Chu Xiao took a signal flare from his waist, preparing for the reinforcements outside to attack from the front, while he would use the commotion to rescue Wang Lulu.
With a bang, a red flare streaked across the sky, tracing a graceful arc before exploding, illuminating the pitch-black night.
“It’s General Chu’s signal! Brothers, charge in and save her!”
“Charge! Kill them!”
The shouts echoed through the valley, lingering long after. A dense swarm of figures surged down the mountain, all rushing toward the Underworld King’s position.
The Underworld King was taken aback—Chu Xiao dared to disregard the safety of his beloved and attack his stronghold!
“Annihilate these foolish humans! And you few, keep a close watch on Wang Lulu!”
“Yes, Lord Underworld King!”
Chu Xiao saw the fighting erupt on that side. Taking advantage of the chaos, he fired and killed the robot guarding the door, then rushed inside to find Wang Lulu bound hand and foot. His heart twisted with guilt—he had failed to protect her.
“Brother Xiao, why are you here? It’s too dangerous. The Underworld King will surely discover us. Leave me, quickly, go!”
Having come this far, Chu Xiao would not turn back. He untied her, and they embraced tightly, as if reunited after a long separation.
Then, Chu Xiao took Wang Lulu’s hand and headed for the door, only to see the Underworld King’s robots rushing toward them.
“Brother Xiao, you go first. I’ll stay and hold them off!”
“Don’t be ridiculous. If anyone stays, it’s me. You go; they won’t harm me!”
They both knew the odds of survival for whoever stayed were slim, but neither wanted the other to die and thus insisted on staying together.
“If you won’t leave, neither will I. We’ll die together!”
Seeing Wang Lulu’s resolve, Chu Xiao said no more. His eyes filled with love. They embraced deeply and shared a kiss.
“Come on, all of you! Today is the day you die, Underworld King!”
Chu Xiao raised his weapon and unleashed a barrage on the robots. One after another fell, but more kept coming. The situation was rapidly becoming untenable.
“Lulu, I’m sorry. I failed to protect you. I’m afraid none of us will get out of here alive today.”

Chu Xiao dropped his gun and turned to hold Wang Lulu tightly, unwilling to let go. Just as the robots were about to break through the door, gunfire erupted behind them, killing the intruders.
“General Chu, are you alright? Hurry, get out of here!”
Hearing the call, Chu Xiao grasped Wang Lulu’s hand and ran.
“How did you all get in? Weren’t you supposed to attack from the front?”
“The soldiers of Jiuzhou couldn’t bear to wait. The main force tore open a breach to come in and support General Chu.”
Chu Xiao’s heart warmed. With these brothers at his side, he had no regrets even if he died. The group surrounded Chu Xiao and Wang Lulu, swiftly making their way to rejoin the main force.
“Chu Xiao, I must admit you’ve impressed me. Without you, I would have wiped out all humans by now!”
At that moment, the Underworld King appeared with a massive army of robots, blocking Chu Xiao’s path. He had anticipated Chu Xiao’s rescue attempt and laid an ambush.
“You underestimate us. Even without me, you’re not a match for us!”
“Very well! Then I’ll show you how humans fall without your aid!”
The Underworld King ordered the slaughter of everyone except Chu Xiao and Wang Lulu. The robots began their massacre. Chu Xiao watched helplessly as his comrades fell one by one.
“Underworld King, you despicable fiend! Spare them! I’ll go with you—do whatever you want to me!”
“Do you really think you’re in a position to bargain with me? Ha!”
The Underworld King reveled in Chu Xiao’s torment. Soon, all were dead but Chu Xiao and Wang Lulu.
“Dear Miss Wang, now I shall test if this man before you truly loves you.”
A sinister smile curled the Underworld King’s lips. Chu Xiao felt a terrible premonition as the King raised his gun, aiming at Wang Lulu.
The trigger clicked, and the bullet flew toward her—but Chu Xiao leapt in front, taking the shot in his shoulder.
“Brother Xiao, are you alright? Why are you so foolish?”
Seeing Chu Xiao’s blood stain his clothes, Wang Lulu sobbed bitterly, feeling more pain than if the bullet had struck her.
“Lulu, I’m fine. Don’t worry—I’m not dying yet!”

Chu Xiao comforted Wang Lulu while clutching his wound.
“Miss Wang, he is indeed deeply devoted to you, willing to take a bullet for you. But I wonder how many more he can take?”
The Underworld King took aim at Wang Lulu again. Chu Xiao stood, pulling her into a tight embrace. She struggled, wanting to protect him from danger, but he would not let go.
Just as the King prepared to fire, a volley of gunshots erupted—reinforcements had arrived! Everyone had waited anxiously as time passed with no sign of help. Those sent to assist Chu Xiao had not returned, so the entire force fought desperately to break through.
The Underworld King sensed the tide turning and attempted to flee.
But it was too late. Surrounded and seeing Chu Xiao wounded, the troops’ fury ignited—they were determined to kill the King.
“Wait! Let me kill him with my own hands! I promised you, if you so much as lay a finger on her, I would make you disappear forever!”
Enduring excruciating pain, Chu Xiao grabbed a weapon from a fallen soldier and approached the King, aiming to end him.
“Hahaha, do you think you can kill me, fools...?”
Before he could finish, Chu Xiao fired. The Underworld King vanished as if evaporated into thin air—no body remained. Chu Xiao was bewildered.
But the others rejoiced, cheering and shouting, “Victory! We have won!”
Chu Xiao did not dwell on it; weakened by blood loss, he collapsed. Wang Lulu hurried to support him.
“Medic! Medic, where are you? Someone’s hurt!”
“Yes!”
The medic ran over, assessed Chu Xiao’s injury, and quickly disinfected and bandaged the wound. Seeing Wang Lulu so worried, Chu Xiao seized the moment and kissed her.
“Oh! Stop it! There are so many people here!”
Wang Lulu’s face flushed crimson. Suddenly, a chilling voice echoed:
“Foolish humans, the one you killed was merely my clone. I will make sure you all perish with it!”
