The giant wolf actually imitated Qin Tian, lifting its paw and curling it toward him, as if to say, “Come on, try again!” Qin Tian felt dizzy—this wolf was incredibly intelligent, almost unnaturally humanlike.

“Qin Tian, there are about five minutes left. The support team will be here any moment! Hold on just a little longer!” Lin Jian called out to him.

“Alright!” Qin Tian nodded, thinking that once the main force arrived, even if the wolf had wings, it would be impossible for it to escape.

He noticed the giant wolf simply sat down, scratching its ear with a paw, showing no intention of attacking. Qin Tian was pleased with this turn of events; it meant he wouldn’t have to risk his life stalling for time.

Five minutes passed quickly, and the main force arrived. A line of specialized vehicles rolled in, including a massive truck equipped with a special device—a capture apparatus. Hanging beneath it was a gigantic net, so large it could easily envelop an entire small villa.

“They’re here!” Lin Jian exclaimed excitedly.

Qin Tian let out a sigh of relief. At last, he wouldn’t have to face the wolf alone.

The giant wolf also noticed the approaching convoy, tilting its head in apparent confusion. Qin Tian kept a close eye on it, fearing it might bolt at the last moment, but he needn’t have worried—the wolf showed no sign of wanting to flee.

“This foolish beast doesn’t even realize disaster is about to befall it. In the end, an animal is still just an animal,” Qin Tian muttered, curling his lips.

The specialized vehicles lined up, and the operatives swiftly disembarked, fully armed and carrying *** and rifles.

The giant wolf seemed a bit nervous, perhaps never having faced so many people at once. It sprang to its feet and roared at the group.

“Team A in position.”

“Team B in position.”

“Team C in position.”

“Capture apparatus ready!”

The operatives reported their statuses through their earpieces, while a command vehicle sat at the rear of the formation.

“Qin Tian, come on, let them handle it from here. There’s no way this giant wolf can escape now,” Lin Jian said.

“Are you sure?” Qin Tian doubted it would be so easy to capture the giant wolf.

“This is the elite special forces unit of our Southeast Military Region—the White Tiger Squadron! There are one hundred and thirty members, each one the best of the best!” Lin Jian replied excitedly.

Qin Tian was indifferent. He didn’t know much about the military, squadrons, or elite units—the terms meant little to him.

Lin Jian led Qin Tian to the last command vehicle, where four others waited—two subordinates, and two superiors.

One of them was Lin Jian’s direct superior, Deputy Director of Public Security Chen Tang.

The other was the commander of the White Tiger Squadron.

“Lin Jian, with such a major incident, how could you report it so late? Luckily, the White Tiger Squadron was conducting exercises near our city and we were fortunate enough to borrow their assistance. Otherwise, if something went wrong, how would you take responsibility?” Chen Tang scolded Lin Jian harshly.

Qin Tian frowned. What did they mean by “reporting so late”? They’d been attacked by the giant wolf unexpectedly! As soon as the attack happened, they’d reported it immediately. Qin Tian hadn’t even complained about how long it took them to get here!

“It was my oversight. I only encountered this giant wolf by chance. Most of the recent wild beast attacks must have been its doing,” Lin Jian replied smoothly. He knew arguing with leadership was pointless; better to just admit fault and avoid any real trouble.

“Young man, I saw you facing off with the giant wolf earlier. Weren’t you afraid?” the White Tiger Squadron commander asked Qin Tian.

“Of course I was afraid! But in that situation, what could I do? Even if I’d tried to back down, that beast wouldn’t have let me go. I had no choice but to stand my ground,” Qin Tian replied with a shrug.

“You’ve got good skills. Interested in joining our White Tiger Squadron?” the commander asked.

“Skills?” Qin Tian frowned. They had only just arrived and hadn’t seen him fight the wolf—how could they know about his abilities?

“Let me introduce myself. My name is Guo Chao, and I’m the commander of the White Tiger Squadron.”

“Our drones arrived a little earlier than we did. The footage of your fight with the wolf was all captured by them,” Guo Chao said, pulling up a video on a tablet and showing Qin Tian.

Qin Tian saw for himself—the footage showed his battle with the giant wolf.

“I see,” Qin Tian nodded. So the drones had caught his confrontation with the beast.

“So, are you interested in joining us? You’re both skilled and courageous,” Guo Chao asked again.

Lin Jian, standing beside him, gave Qin Tian a nudge and a wink, clearly hoping he’d accept.

“Sorry, I don’t plan to join the military for now. Maybe in the future, but at the moment I have urgent matters of my own and can’t spare the time,” Qin Tian declined politely.

Guo Chao was taken aback. Qin Tian had refused his invitation!

He knew that when he extended an invitation, countless people would do anything for such an opportunity, yet Qin Tian had refused him to his face!

Lin Jian was about to explode—this was a once-in-a-lifetime chance, and Qin Tian had turned it down!

Qin Tian, do you realize what Guo Chao’s invitation means? If you joined the White Tiger Squadron, your future would be limitless!

“It’s alright. If you ever change your mind, give me a call,” Guo Chao said, recovering his composure. He tore a slip of paper off a pad and wrote down his number.

“Thank you, Commander Guo,” Qin Tian said, accepting the paper with both hands and tucking it into his pocket.

“I have urgent matters at home. I’ll leave this to you. I’ll be heading out now,” Qin Tian said.

“Go ahead,” Guo Chao nodded.

Qin Tian left the command vehicle, and Lin Jian hesitated for a moment before hurrying after him.

“Hmph! That ignorant boy actually refused Commander Guo’s invitation. He’s bound to regret it!” Chen Tang snorted.

“He’s not from a prominent family, so he doesn’t understand how precious such an opportunity is. But people like him are exactly what I need right now. I hope he’ll call me soon,” Guo Chao replied calmly.

Chen Tang immediately fell silent. Clearly, Guo Chao thought very highly of Qin Tian.

If Qin Tian knew of Guo Chao’s reputation and status, perhaps he would have been tempted.

Guo Chao was the commander of the White Tiger Squadron of the Southeast Military Region, and formerly a specially appointed Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission.

Though only a squadron commander, his status in the Southeast Military Region was on par with that of the regional commander.

To be noticed by someone like him was akin to leaping up the ranks overnight.

Yet, Qin Tian, unaware of all this, had declined without hesitation.
