The Jiang and Zhong families should, by all accounts, be on equal footing, and if anything, the Zhong family holds a slight edge. How could the eldest daughter of the Zhong family possibly be afraid of someone from the Jiang family?

This was far from normal. Yang Fan couldn't help but frown; where there is abnormal behavior, there is bound to be something sinister afoot.

Yang Fan’s thoughts raced in an instant. Jiang Huai and Jiang Bo stepped out of their respective cars almost simultaneously. Jiang Huai was leading Bai Tiantian, whose belly was already beginning to show. Jiang Huai had told him that their wedding would take place this very month.

The eldest daughter of the Zhong family hurried to greet them. Her steps were unsteady, and Yang Fan was certain—this was genuine fear.

As she drew near, she bowed directly to Jiang Bo and said, "Young Master Jiang!"

"Hehe, Ziyan!" Jiang Bo stepped forward, intending to pull her into his embrace.

Ziyan recoiled, managing to step away. Yang Fan was stunned. This was a man trying to snatch another man’s woman right out in the open!

Although, up to this point, he had no actual relationship with the eldest daughter of the Zhong family, it still left a sour taste in his mouth. Moreover, Jiang Huai and Jiang Bo were rivals, and Jiang Huai was his business partner—not to mention he would be raising Liu Mingfeng’s child in the future, who was essentially his own niece or nephew. Bai Tiantian was also his former classmate. Whether for professional or personal reasons, he felt no affinity for this Jiang Bo.

"What are you afraid of? We’re going to be husband and wife sooner or later," Jiang Bo laughed.

"Please show some self-respect, Young Master Jiang. Some things should wait until we are actually married," Zhong Ziyan said with evident disgust.

It was true loathing; Yang Fan saw it clearly and heard it distinctly. If Jiang Bo were to marry into the Zhong family, Jiang Huai would surely lose.

"Fine. I told you before, you are mine sooner or later." Jiang Bo wore a smile that looked as repulsive as it could possibly be.

Nearby, Jiang Huai and Bai Tiantian had exited their car, and Jiang Huai didn't even bother to acknowledge Jiang Bo. But just because you ignore someone doesn't mean they won't pester you.

"Oh? If it isn't my big brother and sister-in-law. Sister-in-law's belly is starting to show, I see." As he spoke, Jiang Bo reached out with his grubby hands, startling Bai Tiantian.

"What do you think you're doing?" Jiang Huai roared in fury.

"Big brother, what are you so afraid of? A little touch doesn't hurt!" Jiang Bo laughed.

"Jiang Bo, I’m warning you, don't ever make jokes like that with me again, or I won't be so polite!" Jiang Huai scolded.

"Big brother, you really are a bore!"

Jiang Bo curled his lip, let out a loud laugh, and led Ye Ziyan inside. Before disappearing, Ye Ziyan glanced at Yang Fan with a complex expression.

This made Yang Fan feel even more uncomfortable. Was she mocking him? Mocking him for being unable to protect even one woman? The sound of Jiang Bo’s laughter echoed, and Yang Fan couldn't help but twitch in irritation.

"Yang Fan, do you know the eldest daughter of the Zhong family?" Huo Xinxi asked.

Yang Fan’s expression darkened. "I have plenty of women I keep!"

"What is wrong with you?"

Yang Fan waved his hand. "Nothing!"

"Like I believe that," Huo Xinxi muttered, but she said nothing more. The police officers behind them noticed that Yang Fan’s mood was quite volatile. Yang Fan stood frozen, Zhong Ziyan’s gaze burned into his memory, refusing to fade.

"Yang Fan!"

"Brother Jiang, sister-in-law!" Yang Fan greeted them.

Jiang Huai and Bai Tiantian had approached, both looking grim.

"That idiot just now was your younger brother, right?"

"Indeed, that was Jiang Bo." Jiang Huai sighed. Sensing Jiang Huai had something to say, Yang Fan noticed an open space ahead and suggested, "Shall we go over there and talk?"

"Sure."

Yang Fan called over to Huo Xinxi, asking her to look after Bai Tiantian. As she came over, Yang Fan and Jiang Huai walked toward the open ground. Jiang Huai pulled out a cigarette and lit one for Yang Fan. Jiang Huai didn't usually smoke; the pressure must have been immense.

"What’s wrong? What’s bothering you?"

"Brother Yang, I think I’m going to lose. Once Jiang Bo marries the eldest daughter of the Zhong family, I won't be able to compete with him at all," Jiang Huai sighed.

"What are you afraid of? Are you so sure he can actually marry her?"

"There’s no mistake. Didn't you hear the eldest daughter of the Zhong family admit it herself? From what I know, the matter is indeed true. But what I can't understand is why the Zhong family would marry their daughter off to Jiang Bo like they’re selling her. The Zhong family isn't afraid of our Jiang family!"

"You noticed that too? I sensed the same fear in her earlier."

"It’s baffling, but being baffled won't help. Once he has the Zhong family as his backing, I’m definitely finished." Jiang Huai pulled out another cigarette.

Yang Fan snatched it away. "Stop smoking."

Jiang Huai didn't try to light it again. He continued, "More importantly, our family members have all been swayed by him. Even those who originally supported me have defected. Soon, I suspect those who follow me will jump ship too. By then, the outcome will be set in stone."

"The final victor isn't decided until the very last moment."

"Brother Yang, don't try to comfort me," Jiang Huai said with a bitter expression.

"I’m not comforting you; I’m stating facts. What are you afraid of? At worst, if you lose, you can bring your wife to my place. Fanmei may not be as large as the Jiang family, but it’s enough to keep you living comfortably," Yang Fan said bluntly.

"Yang Fan, I..." Jiang Huai looked at him in shock. They always said businessmen valued profit above all, yet Yang Fan had said something like this.

"Enough, don't thank me yet. Instead of wasting time finding a way out for yourself, we should be thinking about how to turn defeat into victory! Besides, like I said, whether the eldest daughter of the Zhong family actually marries him is not guaranteed. An engagement doesn't mean a wedding, and even after marriage, people get divorced. There have even been cases of people backing out on the wedding day."

Jiang Huai was stunned. He genuinely found Yang Fan’s words inspiring.

"Furthermore, he can align with the Zhong family, but why can't we? Until the final moment, things are always full of infinite variables!"

"Alright, I’ll listen to you. Let’s make a stand."

"That’s the spirit. He’s trying to strip your allies away one by one? I’ll make sure his people leave him one by one, too." Yang Fan’s eyes narrowed. He dared to try and steal his woman.

"Brother Yang, as long as you can help me defeat Jiang Bo, I’ll add another five billion in investment," Jiang Huai said.

"Enough, enough, stop with the talk. It’s vulgar to discuss money between brothers. Even if you didn't invest, isn't the child in Bai Tiantian’s womb my Brother Liu’s godson? I’m practically an uncle!"

"And there’s an even more important issue: Jiang Bo dared to try and snatch my woman. That is something I cannot ignore!"

Jiang Huai’s eyes widened suddenly.

"What? You’re saying Zhong Ziyan is your..."

"Of course she’s mine. I’m the one keeping her!"
