Chapter 96: Class Reunion, Part Three
Yang Fan and An Lan turned their heads and saw a luxury watch shattered into pieces on the floor.
“You’re talking nonsense. Yang Fan has been sitting here the whole time. He and Liang He were just staring each other down. When did he ever steal anything?” An Lan could not hold back.
“An Lan, just now when Young Master Liang stood up, the watch was on the table. Don’t tell lies with your eyes wide open.”
“Exactly, An Lan. You can’t just defend Yang Fan because he’s your best friend’s husband. So many of us saw it with our own eyes!”
Everyone else nodded in agreement.
“You, you’re all in on it!” An Lan shouted. In her fury, she instinctively wanted to look for surveillance footage, but there was no surveillance in this private room at all.
“An Lan, we all saw it. He was the one who stole it. After being caught, he flew into a rage and smashed the watch.”
Yang Fan’s eyes widened. In broad daylight, under everyone’s gaze, someone dared to call a deer a horse, dared to turn falsehood into truth through sheer numbers?
There was actually someone in the world more shameless than he was. Did they think they could bully him because he wasn’t from Tianhai?
“You’ve gone too far. And Liang He, even if you like Wang Yun, you can’t frame Yang Fan like this!”
“Don’t accuse me falsely. So many people here saw everything. Tell me, should we call the police, or will you pay? That watch is worth more than three million.”
Liang He narrowed his eyes.
Outside, Wang Yun and Xiao Yu hurried in.
“What happened?”
“Wang Yun, your husband stole Liang He’s luxury watch worth more than three million and smashed it to pieces!”
Beside Wang Yun, Xiao Yu shuddered. More than three million? So much?
“You’re spouting nonsense. You’re all conspiring. Wang Yun, I can prove it. They’re conspiring! Yang Fan has been sitting here perfectly well the entire time.”
“An Lan, we all saw it. If this goes to the police, your testimony alone probably won’t count for much.”
Around them, fingers pointed and voices murmured. Yang Fan’s expression remained calm, and Wang Yun’s was just as composed. Nonsense. In Ah Ying’s collection, there were more than ten watches even more valuable than this one. Would she care about a mere three-million watch?
“You’re lying. I clearly…”
“Enough, An Lan. Stop talking!” Wang Yun cut her off.
“But Wang Yun, that’s more than three million!”
Liang He sneered.
“What exactly do you want?” Yang Fan asked directly.
“I already said it. Either call the police. If you steal something worth three million, think about how many years you’ll be locked up. Or pay up. Of course, if you don’t have the money, you can write an IOU. But Wang Yun will have to be my secretary and slowly pay it back.”
“That last sentence is your real motive, isn’t it?” Yang Fan sneered, then continued, “Then if Wang Yun and I get divorced, I’ll be the one paying the money, right?”
“You’re husband and wife. You already have a marriage certificate. Joint debt. Even if you divorce, she’ll still have to repay her share,” Liang He said.
Yang Fan smiled and nodded. No matter how it was phrased, Wang Yun was going to be his secretary in the end.
“Liang He, don’t go too far. We’re all classmates.”
“Yeah, Liang He, why make things difficult for a married couple?”
Xiao Yu and An Lan spoke up beside them. In the span of a class reunion, they had seen clearly what so many people were really like. It was nothing but a trap.
“I’m not making things difficult for them. Of course, you can choose to call the police. It’s just that if the husband of a special police officer is caught stealing, once that reputation gets out…”
Yang Fan sneered and said, “I remember that several months ago, someone said the same thing to me. I think calling the police is too simple.”
His eyes tightened, and he immediately pulled out his phone.
Seeing Yang Fan move, Wang Yun grabbed his hand and said, “They’re my classmates. Let them go this once, husband!”
The room erupted in laughter.
“Wang Yun, who do you think your husband is?”
“Exactly, Wang Yun. Following our Young Master Liang is better than following a thief, isn’t it?”
Even Liang He was nearly amused. The way Yang Fan was dressed, he probably wasn’t wearing more than five hundred dollars’ worth of clothes from head to toe.
“Shut up!” Wang Yun shouted sharply, but that only drew even more laughter.
Her hand was still on Yang Fan.
“Is that okay, husband?”
“Okay. Whatever you say.” Yang Fan looked at Wang Yun and smiled.
Wang Yun nodded with emotion. If Yang Fan were to make a move, the Liang family would collapse in an instant. With the Liang family’s total assets amounting to only a few million, they would not even be enough to keep those people busy for a moment.
After all, she was kind-hearted. She would just treat it as repaying the debt of Liang He pursuing her for four years.
“How much? Give me the exact figure.”
“Three million five hundred seventy thousand,” Liang He said.
“Send me the account number,” Wang Yun said directly.
At once, the laughter in the room stopped dead.
“You, you can really afford to pay?” Liang He blurted out. Even Xiao Yu and An Lan found it unbelievable. That was more than three million, not thirty thousand!
Wang Yun suddenly smiled. It was the first time Liang He had ever seen her smile at him like that.
“Do you know why I don’t believe my husband would steal your watch?”
Liang He shook his head.
“One of my earrings cost two million. A necklace, four million. My ring, six million. And as for a watch—weren’t you looking for one?”
Wang Yun took the bag, opened it, and pulled out two watches. Liang He was instantly stunned, because he recognized them. Limited editions. Each one was worth more than nine million.
“Limited edition?” The room drew in a sharp breath.
“You’ve got a good eye. Of course, there’s plenty more in this bag. I’ve roughly calculated it, and it’s worth about half of the Liang family’s total assets. And this is only what I brought out today.”
The entire room was shaken again. What she carried with her was half of the Liang family.
“I’m not telling you how much money I have. I’m telling you a simple fact: if something worth three million were placed in front of us, neither of us would even spare it a glance.”
Silence fell over the room.
“Now, give me the account number. I’ll transfer it right away.”
Liang He suddenly hesitated. How could Wang Yun have so much money?
“What? Didn’t bring a card? Easy enough.”
Wang Yun smiled again, tapped a few times on her phone, and soon received a message.
Without the slightest hesitation, she entered the account number. Less than a second after she locked her phone, Liang He’s phone received the deposit notification.
“You, how did you get my account number?”
“All right, the money’s arrived. We’re even now.”
Wang Yun picked up her bag.
“Wang Yun, wait!” Liang He hurriedly stood up and called after her.
Wang Yun paused, then sighed. “Really, Liang He, you should stop making moves on me. With just your few million in assets, it really isn’t enough for my husband to play with for long. I was kindly advising you. This matter, I won’t pursue any further, so don’t bring trouble on yourself.”
“And to all my classmates, let’s say farewell from this day forward. Husband, Xiao Yu, An Lan, let’s go!”
Liang He suddenly sank back into his chair, utterly dejected. Then, abruptly, he looked at the account into which the money had been deposited. It was an account he had left with the finance office of the Fanmei Resort.
And that account was only for business dealings with the resort.
“He, he is...”
