"The Tianning market is almost completely carved up now. It’s time to look for new targets," Yang Fan sighed.

"So what you mean is, we’re already secure, and now you can go find another one, right?"

"What kind of conclusion is that?" Yang Fan truly felt that the girl’s imagination and chain of thought were extraordinary. Somehow, even this could be connected to him. It was a pity she did not go into writing.

"Then you’d better not come anymore. Leave some way for the wealthy people of Tianhai to survive!"

"Better to die sooner and be reborn sooner! Why don’t you transfer to Tianning too?"

"No way. My home is in Tianhai, and so are my parents. What would I go to Tianning for?" Wang Yun said.

"Then what do our parents do? Darling, let’s skip the class reunion, buy some gifts, and go home to see our parents. Wouldn’t that be lovely?"

"You really want to meet them?" Wang Yun asked.

"Of course!"

"All right. Next time I go to the province for a meeting, I’ll bring you along."

"Wait a minute!" Yang Fan was shocked, then asked, "Why is it in the province?"

"Yes. My father is the deputy director of the Provincial Public Security Department, and my mother is a professor at Tianhai University of Political Science and Law."

"Damn, so you’re a second-generation official!"

"So, my parents really do want to meet you. They’ll have to take a good look at the man who stole the flower from our family garden!"

"Then let’s meet in a couple of days!" Yang Fan was miserable. This was too big a background; he could not possibly smooth things over.

"Don’t be afraid. They’ll be attending your opening ceremony tomorrow."

"Now that you put it that way, why do I suddenly feel so uncertain?"

"When you wanted me, why were you so certain? Didn’t my parents have to know who it was?"

Yang Fan was speechless...

"All right, we’re here. Get out of the car. Don’t be scared."

"No, Yun’er, tell me first—what are our parents fond of?" Yang Fan asked quickly as Wang Yun got out of the car, and he hurried after her.

"That trick won’t work. They only want to know who stole the flower from our family. I’m the only daughter in my family," Wang Yun said with a wave.

...

Ahead was a crowd of people. Wang Yun looped her arm through Yang Fan’s and waved at them.

"Wang Yun!"

"Xiao Yu! An Lan!"

The girls all rushed over. Wang Yun tossed her handbag into Yang Fan’s hands and threw herself into their embrace as well. The girls hugged each other so tightly.

Yang Fan rolled his eyes. You don’t want me anymore, fine—but if you do, at least let me have a hug too!

The thought had only just risen when he felt a little ashamed of himself. He actually had the makings of a lecher, to even want to hug Wang Yun’s best friends.

"Wang Yun, we haven’t seen you in more than half a year. And who is he?"

"Yes, Wang Yun, why don’t you introduce us?"

...

"Why would I introduce him to you? You have to guard against fire, theft, and best friends," Wang Yun joked. Of course she would introduce him. She had brought Yang Fan here for that. "This is my husband, Yang Fan."

"You’re married? Why didn’t we know?"

"Exactly. You little rascal, you didn’t even tell us. The friendship boat really does capsize at the drop of a hat."

"We just got our marriage certificate recently. The wedding hasn’t been held yet," Wang Yun said with a smile. She then introduced Yang Fan to each of them in turn. After the greetings were done, there was truly nothing left for him to do.

"What does your boyfriend do? You just married him like that? You’re fast!"

A few girls were in front, Yang Fan was behind them, and he was nothing more than a bag carrier.

The eighth floor of Phoenix Hall was the venue for the banquet. Wang Yun, in school, had actually been the type who did not speak much; she was only truly familiar with her best friends.

So the girls sat together, and her best friends had been sizing Yang Fan up the whole time. Yang Fan, meanwhile, was terribly uneasy. The others who had arrived earlier, men and women alike, kept glancing this way. Of course, Wang Yun had not explained exactly what Yang Fan was to her, but if he was carrying her bag for her, wasn’t that what a boyfriend did?

Soon, quiet murmurs began to spread. Yang Fan felt miserable. Why had he come to this blasted class reunion?

Just then, Wang Yun’s phone rang. She acted as if she had not heard a thing, while Yang Fan took out his own phone and saw that the caller ID read Mom.

"Who is it?" Wang Yun turned her head and glanced at it, then said directly, "Answer it."

"I..."

Yang Fan’s face was full of black lines. What was he supposed to say once he picked up?

"Then I’ll go outside to answer it, and maybe find someone to talk to as well."

Wang Yun shot him a glare. You want to go flirt with a waitress again...

"Business! What are you thinking?" Yang Fan retorted.

Wang Yun waved him off, and Yang Fan really did feel as though he had escaped a tiger’s jaws. He was far too stiff in a place like this.

He hurried out with long strides, only to bump into someone coming in; the two even stared at each other for several seconds.

The phone kept ringing. Yang Fan gritted his teeth. Whether you stretched your neck or shrank it, the blade would still fall, so he answered it at last.

"Hello, Auntie. This is Yang Fan," he said, steadying himself.

"Yang Fan? This girl Yun’er, now that you’re in Tianhai, she still won’t bring you home. That child is always out running around!"

"Auntie, Yun’er is at a class reunion. I’m just accompanying her over here."

...

He spoke with his future mother-in-law for quite a while. From her voice alone, it seemed she was not the stern sort. The father-in-law, however, would not be so easy to face.

He sighed and went to the front desk to ask where the manager’s office was. Talking business would be better than attending this class reunion.

On the eighth floor, the man Yang Fan had just run into outside was one of Wang Yun’s suitors. His name was Liang He, and he counted as a rich second generation.

He liked Wang Yun, much as Yang Fan had pursued Bai Tiantian. He had been chasing her since their first year of university, and still had not given up.

In truth, he was not even as good as Yang Fan. At the very least, when Yang Fan called Bai Tiantian, she would answer; but when Liang He called Wang Yun, she simply did not pick up at all.

As the saying goes, love can turn into hatred. This time, he was determined to win Wang Yun no matter what.

Naturally, methods like drugging her or forcing the issue had long been ruled out, because Wang Yun was, after all, a special police officer, and that was not something easy to handle.

So he had chosen a cleverer method: he would make Wang Yun owe him an enormous sum of money. By then, he would not fear her refusal to comply. Besides, he had money too.

Using one’s own strengths to strike at another’s weakness—what could a young special police officer like Wang Yun possibly have in the way of money? Liang He was not foolish. He had investigated this matter for a long time in order to prepare for this day.

After entering the room, he saw the people at Wang Yun’s table.

"Squad Leader Liang, long time no see."

"That’s right, everyone. We really haven’t seen each other for more than half a year, so this time I thought I’d gather everyone together for a reunion!" Liang He greeted the others with a smile, though his attention remained fixed on Wang Yun’s table.

Half a year apart, and she had become even more beautiful, even more elegant...

And such a beauty, he was determined to have.

After exchanging a few pleasantries, he naturally sat down beside Wang Yun’s table.

"Well, if it isn’t Yun’er. I called you several times and you didn’t answer. I thought you weren’t coming."

"If the class leader is treating us, how could Wang Yun not come?" Xiao Yu said from beside her.

"You must be very busy. I said long ago that Yun’er shouldn’t have gone to the special police team," Liang He said with a smile.

"My name is Wang Yun. Please call me Wang Yun from now on, Squad Leader."
