Chapter 107: Stunned (Bonus Chapter for Diamond Donations)
Zhou Yang and Long Jue were like Luo Ange’s shadow followers; wherever he went, they followed, always deferential to him. One called him “uncle,” the other “brother,” which gave me goosebumps all over.
I took the initiative to bring my tablet out to the balcony, but my ears were straining to catch every sound.
It seemed Zhou Yang said he wanted to leave, and Luo Ange didn’t object. “You should go back and keep San San company. I’m fine here. Long Jue, you should go too; don’t just hang around in front of me all day—it’s annoying.”
Long Jue retorted, “Don’t get cocky, Luo Ange. If it weren’t for Big Brother telling me to watch over you, do you think I’d want to look at that unsatisfied, overly restrained, old face of yours?”
Luo Ange gasped sharply, “Don’t use Big Brother to pressure me. First, take care of your own mess.”
Zhou Yang smiled devilishly, earning two glaring looks from Long Jue.
After a while, Luo Ange spoke seriously, “You all should go back. Big Brother will be on a business trip to Moscow soon; we’ll meet up then. I have to handle some matters with Lanshan these days, so I really can’t keep you company.”
Long Jue asked, “Have you decided what to do about her? Honestly, at first, I hated her because of how much you cared about Lanshan, but now I see she’s actually pretty cute. Don’t you dare wrong her. Once she’s better, I’ll officially take her as my sister.”
I felt a punch land on my shoulder: “Don’t say my woman is cute.”
I lowered my head, smiling slightly. The pervert was always like this—possessiveness unmatched in the universe.
That afternoon, Zhou Yang and Qilin left. After they left, I slept for a while. In a haze, I felt tiny bugs biting my ear, and instinctively, I slapped them away, only to have a hand catch mine.
I opened my eyes to find Luo Ange, leaning over me, his gaze burning into me.
I woke up startled, wanting to push him away, yet somehow expecting something—though even I didn’t know what.
His shirt was slightly open, revealing faint scars beneath. Suddenly, I felt at peace. It wasn’t just me who was hurting; he was hurting too, just like me.
He leaned down to kiss me, and a shiver ran through my body, like electricity spreading from my lips to my soles. I wrapped my arms around his neck.
Forgive me for being spineless—no matter how many times I said I didn’t love him, I couldn’t help it.
Just as I thought Luo Ange would go further, he stopped, breathing heavily, then whispered in my ear, “Wuyou, will you leave me?”
I shook my head, nestling into his embrace. Words like that were impossible to resist.
“Wuyou, do you know how torturous it is for me to hold you every night but not be able to have you?”
It seemed Long Jue was right—someone was severely starved and over-restrained.
Lying on his shoulder, I looked at his handsome profile and sighed contentedly.
Suddenly, I remembered something and asked, “That time when I was with Xiaokun, how did you find me?”
He rolled his eyes, opened the back of my watch, and pointed to a tiny chip the size of a soybean, his peach blossom eyes slanting towards me.
I realized then—he had secretly installed a tracking device in my watch. No matter where I was, he could find me.
That day, Luo Ange took me and Xibao to a dinner party. By the time we finished, the moon was high. They had other matters to discuss, so Luo Ange asked Ayun to take us home first.
Passing through the city center, Xibao insisted on having Häagen-Dazs. I asked Ayun to watch her while I went to buy it.
Unexpectedly, I saw Jiangcheng Huan rushing through the streets, clutching a huge bouquet of roses.
I ran back to the car, borrowing Ayun’s phone to call Li Wanqiu. The call rang several times without answer.
I then called Xia Qi. Recently, Luo Ange hadn’t given me a phone or allowed me any contact with the outside world, so I hadn’t been in touch with anyone in Kang City.
Xia Qi answered quickly. Before I could ask where Jiangcheng Huan was, she said, “I’m in Jingnan, city center area. Where are you?”
It seemed she already knew what had happened to me, probably told by Shu Congxuan.
I told her I was also near the city center. She said, “I’m near Starbucks, Wen Yuan’s here too. Come over, it’s important.”
I felt something was off. Given our relationship, shouldn’t she have shouted to ask me what had happened and who I’d been with? Why hadn’t she mentioned a word? Was something wrong?
Ayun looked troubled when he heard I was going to meet a friend. He was the bodyguard Luo Ange assigned to me and naturally cautious.
He stepped aside to make a call, then handed the phone to me: “Miss, the young master wants to speak with you.”
I was wary of Luo Ange, so I cautiously took the phone and held it to my ear. His voice was soft: “What’s wrong?”
I didn’t dare lie and told the truth: “Xia Qi and the others have come. I have something to deal with and need to go out briefly. I’ll be back soon.”
He hesitated: “Is it really necessary? Can’t you wait until I finish here and then go with you?”
I hesitated, knowing he was discussing a development project with clients tonight and couldn’t be distracted. So I carefully replied, “No need. You focus. I can handle it myself.”
He inhaled sharply, like in pain. I immediately panicked, fearing he wouldn’t allow me to go.
After a few seconds, he said, “Call me when you’re done. I’ll come pick you up.”
I breathed a sigh of relief. “Okay.”
Eager to see Xia Qi, I practically jogged to Starbucks. The moment I saw her, a miraculous feeling of transformation enveloped me. I rushed over and hugged her, accidentally knocking over a coffee cup.
Xia Qi held me gently. “Calm down, look who’s here.”
Only then did I notice a fourth person present. Seeing who it was, I instantly regretted coming.
If Luo Ange knew that Shu Congxuan was among the people I came to see, he would be furious.
I awkwardly let go of Xia Qi and asked Shu Congxuan, who was watching me, “Why are you here?”
He smiled slightly. “Here to handle some business.”
Wen Yuan, sitting nearby, glanced at us disdainfully. “Been missing for a while. How come you look younger?”
I had no mood for banter, glancing at the group, suddenly realizing someone was missing. “Where’s Li Wanqiu?”
Wen Yuan’s expression changed. Xia Qi, holding me close, said, “Come on, I’ll show you the show.”
On the way, Xia Qi kept making calls, asking about the situation as if negotiating.
Ten minutes later, I finally asked, “What’s going on?”
She didn’t look at me but instead asked Wen Yuan, “Are you ready?”
Wen Yuan nodded. “Ready.”
I was shocked, thinking they had found out Wang Keying was hospitalized and were about to cause trouble at the hospital.
Just as I reached for my phone to call Li Wanqiu, Wen Yuan held me down. “Yilanshan, don’t move.”
I sensed trouble and asked again, “What exactly is going on?”
Shu Congxuan, sitting in the passenger seat, turned back, looking displeased at the two restraining me. “It’s not about Lanshan. Why are you making things difficult for her?”
Xia Qi looked annoyed. “Mr. Shu, don’t forget, we came to Jingnan on important business. Whatever I do, don’t stop me. Only then will I help you.”
Shu Congxuan glanced at me as if blaming Xia Qi for talking too much, then smiled at me. “It’ll be over soon, Lanshan. Don’t be afraid.”
I was on the verge of tears. “Please, just tell me what’s happening.”
Wen Yuan muttered, “You’ll know when we arrive.”
The car stopped in front of Jingnan’s famous five-star hotel. Xia Qi said to Shu Congxuan, “Let’s follow protocol. You stay and command; we’ll go up.”
Shu Congxuan looked at me. Wen Yuan, eager, said, “Alright, alright. We’re not about to eat Lanshan, are we?”
They grabbed me, dragged me out of the car, and shoved me into the elevator without further ado.
I closed my eyes in despair. Damn Jiangcheng Huan—Wang Keying was badly beaten, yet so soon to book a room again, all the way to Jingnan. Were you that desperate?
Seeing my expression, Xia Qi sneered coldly. “Yilanshan, you’ve known for a while, haven’t you?”
A thousand cold arrows pierced my mind. I couldn’t find words to reply; I was just thinking why Xia Qi was with Wen Yuan, and where was Li Wanqiu?
Exiting the elevator, I grabbed Xia Qi. “Can we think this through? Let’s call Li Wanqiu. She’s the smartest schemer.”
Suddenly, Wen Yuan grabbed my neck. In all these years, I’d never seen him look so murderous. He snarled, “Yilanshan, are you really clueless or just pretending?”
I didn’t know what expression I wore—bewildered or suddenly enlightened.
Xia Qi shoved Wen Yuan away, shouting, “Why take it out on her? You should manage your own woman better.”
Wen Yuan sneered twice. “Now you blame me? Why don’t you control your own man?”
I was utterly confused. What were these two arguing about? Xia Qi was angry about Jiangcheng Huan and Wang Keying, which I understood. But what was Wen Yuan mad about?
Despite the quarrel, the two of them efficiently restrained me on either side. At the end of the corridor stood the presidential suite door. Xia Qi raised her hand, hesitated, then looked down at me. “Yilanshan, I’ll ask you once more. Do you really not know?”
Knowing that if I didn’t confess, our friendship would end, I hurriedly nodded. “I know, I know. Li Wanqiu told me a long time ago.”
Her hand, already on the door, suddenly slammed into my face. I was caught off guard and slammed against the wall.
She grabbed my collar and shouted, “Yilanshan, how could you betray me?”
I began to cry. “I’m sorry, sorry. I thought Li Wanqiu and I could handle it.”
She sneered, “Handle it? Do you really believe your so-called good friend?”
At that moment, Wen Yuan couldn’t hold back any longer. He kicked the door hard.
It didn’t open. He kicked it several more times until it burst open.
He stormed inside first. I heard a sharp “Bitch!” followed by a clattering of sounds mixed with a girl’s screams.
Xia Qi weakly let go of my hand, tears streaming down her face. I panicked and hugged her. “Xia Qi, Xia Qi, listen to me—it’s not what you think.”
She suddenly pushed me away and turned into the room.
I wasn’t at ease and followed inside, stunned by what I saw.
