How could he even say something so disgusting?

The driver in front let out a snort of laughter, and I was mortified. I muttered a few curses, hung up the phone, and promptly blocked that pervert's number.

The driver was a kindly middle-aged man. He glanced at me in the rearview mirror and asked, “Young lady, did you have a fight with your boyfriend?”

I put away my eye drops and gave a cold snort. “That pervert is not my boyfriend.”

He looked stunned for a moment, then let out a knowing “Oh,” as though he suddenly understood.

Realizing he’d misunderstood, I hurried to explain, “No, sir, you’ve got it wrong. What I meant was, that pervert and I are just—”

He started laughing even harder, and I couldn’t be bothered to explain further. Fuming, I leaned back against the seat.

When I finally arrived at the French restaurant, Xia Qi and Li Wanqiu were in a private room putting on makeup. The moment they saw me, they looked utterly alarmed. “What happened? Was a dog chasing you?”

I tugged my hair down to cover my neck, walked over, and sat across from them, grabbing a glass of juice to drink.

Li Wanqiu gave me a look. “Yi Lanshan, what’s with you? Why are you wearing a high-necked shirt in this heat?”

I stammered out an excuse, “It’s nothing. I’ve just had a bit of an allergic reaction these last couple of days.”

Thankfully, they didn’t press the issue, and the three of us settled in to enjoy our meal. We came to this French restaurant often; at first, it was Xia Qi who found it, amused that the restaurant shared my childhood nickname—Wuyou.

While slicing my foie gras, I asked the two ladies if they’d decided where to go next, when suddenly a familiar voice drifted in from outside.

Xia Qi was the first to react. She went to the door, cracked it open, and after a few glances, turned back to us with a mischievous grin, waving us over.

Li Wanqiu and I, curious, joined her. When we saw who was outside, our jaws nearly hit the floor.

Xia Qi asked me, “Who’s that man?”

I feigned ignorance, watching the scene unfold with cold amusement. I wasn’t sure if I was doing it for Lei Zhiyi’s sake, or my own.

Lei Zhiyi was a shadow of her former self, all her previous arrogance gone. She clung to Zhu Bang, pleading desperately, “Please, help me. I promise I won’t make a scene. I just want to see him once, even from afar.”

Zhu Bang remained patient. “Miss Lei, I’ve made things quite clear. There was never really anything between you and the young master. Why persist?”

Lei Zhiyi burst into tears. “What do you mean nothing happened? He told me I was special! He said he’d help me get into the entertainment industry!”

Xia Qi whispered, “I heard Luo Ange has a new girlfriend. Lei Zhiyi got dumped.”

Li Wanqiu chimed in, “Exactly. Rumor had it she landed movie roles, all big productions, always the leading lady. Serves her right—she’s only slapped herself in the face now.”

Girls’ minds are truly strange: if you’re doing better than me, I’ll curse your whole family; if you’re doing worse, I’ll curse them all the same.

Realizing she was getting nowhere, Lei Zhiyi suddenly played her trump card: “Then could you at least tell him… tell him I’m pregnant? Ask him if he wants the baby.”

Hearing that, I silently cursed that pervert—what a stud, who knows how many illegitimate children he has out there? One day his luck will run dry.

Zhu Bang chuckled. “Miss Lei, that’s a little too childish, don’t you think? Sure, many women like our young master, but he’s not so indiscriminate as to get you pregnant. Did you think any woman could become our young lady? He’s not some breeding stallion.”

Xia Qi and Li Wanqiu high-fived. “Well said.”

Lei Zhiyi began to weep. “That night, we really did… Assistant Zhu, I’m begging you, I really…”
