Chapter Fifty-Eight: Are You the Only One Who Knows How to Care? This chapter is dedicated to Sushi for Jujuan.
As I came downstairs, I saw Mu Ying in the living room. She was still wearing a mask. When she noticed me, she looked momentarily surprised, then quickly smiled knowingly. "You little rascal, I was wondering why you were still in bed so late—turns out a night of passion is worth a thousand pieces of gold."
Luo Ange glanced at me and asked, "What brings you here?"
Mu Ying looked me up and down, and with nowhere to hide, I shrank behind Luo Ange.
He patted my hand. "It's all right; she's one of us."
Mu Ying interrupted, "Hold on, hold on. I'm definitely not 'one of us' with her. Her sister wrecked my marriage and caused me to be disfigured. How could we possibly be on the same side, Miss Yi?"
I had no way to defend myself. I wanted to say Yi Huayang is Yi Huayang and I am myself, but as the words reached my lips, I realized how meaningless they were.
Whether I liked it or not, Yi Huayang would always be my sister.
She made mistakes, and our whole family bears the blame, myself included.
Luo Ange led me to sit at the dining table and asked Mu Ying, "It's rare for you to reach out to me. Has something happened with Rong Luozheng?"
Only then did Mu Ying walk over and sit beside me. She picked up the cup of coffee in front of me, took a sip, and said slowly, "He's fighting me for custody of our child. And, it seems he's buying up shares from individual investors."
I was stunned. Luo Ange handed me some chopsticks, signaling for me to eat.
I shook my head to show I had no appetite, my gaze fixed on the doorway. More than anything, I wanted to leave this place.
He took the chopsticks from me, picked up a piece of fish, and held it to my lips.
I turned my face away, but he turned my head back, insisting that I eat.
Suddenly, tears began to fall, but I still opened my mouth and took the bite.
Only then did he relent and turn to Mu Ying. "What are you thinking?"
Mu Ying paused. "Simple and direct. Make sure he can't set foot in this circle again. This is the last thing I'll ever ask of you. Once it's done, I'll move to Canada with my parents immediately."
Luo Ange frowned. "Mu Ying, I've told you before, helping you is the natural thing to do. Not just for something this minor—if you wanted me to hand you the entire Lan Feng Group, I wouldn't complain. I believe your father would want you to inherit the family business, not leave it in the hands of an outsider like me."
Mu Ying lowered her head, stirring her coffee. "Ange, I'm tired. Truly tired. After all these years of fighting, all my passion and love have been spent."
I ate a few pieces of fish and sipped a little porridge, then quietly told Luo Ange I wanted to go home.
He stood up and said to Mu Ying, who was still seated, "You should keep a low profile for a while. If I take action, Rong Luozheng will definitely come looking for you. You have a soft heart—it's best if you don't see him at all."
Mu Ying nodded and looked at me a few times. "Luo Ange, I have to admit, out of all your women, Miss Yi is the most beautiful and the best match for you."
Luo Ange shot her a glare. "Don't talk nonsense. You're making it sound like I've been with countless women."
Mu Ying said to me, "I'm just joking, don't take it seriously."
I shrugged indifferently. "It's nothing to me. Just pretend I've been trampled by a pig."
She covered her mouth and snickered, grabbed her bag, and left.
Luo Ange pushed me away, glaring at me fiercely. "You're the pig."
I shot back, "You're the undefeated villain."
As he drove me home, the insufferable man kept a poker face the entire way. When we reached the mouth of the alley by the courtyard house, he stopped the car and looked at me. "Yi Lanshan, what do you mean by all this?"
I touched my nose, feeling inexplicably confused. "Luo Ange, shouldn't I be the one asking you that? What do you mean? You use Mu Ying to threaten me because you know I'm guilty, so you hurt me like this. Do you think you're the only one with feelings, the only one who can hurt?"
He sounded irritated. "Then what is it that you want?"
