Chapter 121: How Small the World Is
“Yes, yes, yes. The Sun family is nothing special. How could we possibly compare with you, Master?” Sun Simin said with a beaming smile.
Sun Yuebin was so shocked by the sight that he nearly swallowed the table in front of him. Sun Simin was treating this young man with extraordinary respect—and had even called him Master!
“Elder Sun, what are you doing here? Is this your clinic?”
The Sun Family Clinic? Sun Simin? It seemed that was indeed the case.
“Ahem, you two go outside first.” Sun Simin did not answer immediately. Instead, he coughed twice and drove both the security guards and Sun Yuebin out.
All four guards slunk away. Sun Yuebin cast Qin Tian an incredulous glance before leaving the room as well.
“Master! What brings you to Tongyang City?” Sun Simin asked excitedly.
Ever since Qin Tian had taught him the Nine-Link Acupuncture Technique, Sun Simin’s medical skills had nearly reached the realm of perfection. His reputation in the world of traditional Chinese medicine had now completely surpassed that of Elder Dragon of Nanshan, Shangguan Jinglong, and Elder Yuan of Beihai, Yuan Yu.
Those two divine physicians, once his equals in fame, had now been left far behind.
For that reason, Sun Simin was deeply grateful to Qin Tian—so grateful that words could not express it.
“I came here to study,” Qin Tian replied.
“To study? In the Chinese Medicine Department at Virtue University?” Sun Simin asked.
“It is Virtue University, but I’m not in the Chinese Medicine Department. I’m studying international business.” Qin Tian spread his hands.
“Yes, yes, of course. Someone like you has no need to study Chinese medicine. Those professors in the department probably aren’t worthy to touch even one hair on your head!”
“Master, you’re developing in two fields at once. Truly impressive!” Sun Simin continued, laying on the flattery.
Qin Tian was speechless. Sun Simin was really terrible at flattering people. Qin Tian almost advised him to stop, but then thought better of it. He did not want to discourage the old man.
“Elder Sun, is this your clinic?” Qin Tian asked.
“Yes. This is one of the Sun family’s clinics, and the one here in Tongyang City happens to be under my name.” Sun Simin nodded.
Qin Tian fell into thought. It seemed the Sun family had quite an impressive background.
But with a miracle doctor like Sun Simin in the family, how weak could the Sun family possibly be?
“Master, did you come here for something? Are you bringing a friend to see a doctor?” Sun Simin asked, glancing at the sickly-looking Tang Bo.
“Mm. I came to get some medicinal herbs.” Qin Tian nodded. At the same time, he was utterly exasperated with Tang Bo. A fight had just broken out, yet Tang Bo had not reacted in the slightest.
There was no sorrow greater than a heart that had died. Qin Tian was truly afraid that Tang Bo would never recover from this blow.
“Your friend seems to be suffering from an illness of the heart,” Sun Simin said with a frown.
“As expected of the Divine Physician Sun.” Qin Tian smiled and nodded.
“Not at all, not at all. I hardly deserve the title,” Sun Simin said hurriedly, waving off the praise.
“Master, take whatever herbs you need.”
“Very well.” Qin Tian nodded and was about to collect the medicine when Sun Simin called out to him again.
“Master, I…”
Sun Simin hesitated.
“What is it?” Qin Tian asked.
“If something is troubling you, just say so. Since you call me Master, I’ll certainly help if I can.” Qin Tian smiled.
“It’s like this. I came to Tongyang City to attend an international academic conference. There’s a medical forum among the events. Quite a few renowned doctors from overseas have come this time, while traditional Chinese medicine is at a disadvantage. So I was hoping to ask you…” Sun Simin’s meaning was obvious.
“When is it?” Qin Tian asked with a smile.
“You agree, Master?” Sun Simin asked, somewhat surprised. He had not expected Qin Tian to accept so readily.
“Why wouldn’t I help bring honor to our country?” Qin Tian replied with a smile.
“Two days from now, at two in the afternoon, in the main auditorium on the second floor of Central Tower!” Sun Simin said quickly.
“No problem!” Qin Tian made an OK sign.
Qin Tian then went to the dispensary to gather the medicine. With Sun Simin’s approval, he easily collected all the herbs he needed.
He also deliberately took a few extra herbs—common medicinal plants used to treat colds, fevers, and similar ailments.
It never hurt to keep some herbs at home. One never knew when they might come in handy.
After collecting the medicine, Qin Tian made a point of paying for it. He could not simply take advantage of the man.
But just as he was paying, he unexpectedly ran into two people.
Chai Gou and Chen Qiaoshan!
Qin Tian frowned. He had not expected to run into the pair here. He tried to avoid them, but they seemed determined not to let him go.
“Well, well, isn’t this Tang Bo’s buddy?” Chai Gou said with a grin, blocking Qin Tian’s path.
“Is there something you need?” Qin Tian asked indifferently.
“Nothing much. Where’s your friend Tang Bo? Didn’t he come with you?” Chai Gou asked.
“If there’s nothing else, move aside.” Qin Tian spoke patiently.
“Your friend isn’t here? What a shame. I was hoping to give him something to be happy about.” Chai Gou continued prattling on, completely ignoring Qin Tian’s words.
“Get out of my way!” Qin Tian barked.
“Why are you so angry? You’ll scare the baby in her belly.” As he spoke, Chai Gou reached out and rubbed Chen Qiaoshan’s stomach.
Qin Tian froze for a moment. Chen Qiaoshan was pregnant?
Chen Qiaoshan herself stiffened, but her expression remained unchanged.
At that moment, Tang Bo happened to come out. Hearing those words, he immediately widened his eyes. It felt as though some nerve in his brain had snapped, leaving his mind utterly blank.
“Well, look at that—the loser is right there!” Chai Gou said when he spotted Tang Bo emerging from the consultation room.
“Tang Bo, I brought your wife here for a prenatal checkup!”
“Oh, no, that’s not right. She’s my wife now!” Chai Gou said with a broad grin.
“You moron! This is a traditional Chinese medicine hospital. What the hell are you doing bringing her here for a prenatal checkup?” Qin Tian roared without the slightest restraint. He hurried to Tang Bo’s side to check on him.
Chai Gou was instantly dumbfounded. He had intended to provoke Tang Bo, but instead he had only made a fool of himself.
This was a traditional Chinese medicine hospital. It really did not offer prenatal examinations.
Qin Tian’s words brought Tang Bo back to his senses, but when he looked at Chen Qiaoshan in Chai Gou’s arms, his expression once again became vacant and despondent.
“A woman like that isn’t worth holding on to,” Qin Tian comforted him.
“What do you mean, ‘a woman like that’? You’d better explain yourself!” Chen Qiaoshan snapped, displeased.
“Shanshan, don’t get angry. There’s no need to bother with them,” Chai Gou said.
“Being with me is her good fortune! Just look at that loser Tang Bo. Could he have found her such a good job?”
“I’m taking her to an interview today, and she’s guaranteed to get it!”
“The work is stable, the hours are regular, and it’s easy with a high salary. What could be better?” Chai Gou said arrogantly.
Chai Gou had used his connections to find Chen Qiaoshan an internship at the clinic.
To a large extent, Chen Qiaoshan had chosen to be with Chai Gou because of that job.
The benefits at the Sun Family Clinic were extraordinarily generous. Countless people had fought tooth and nail for the chance to get in.
Hearing Chai Gou’s words, Qin Tian pondered for a moment before letting out a cold laugh.
An interview, was it? A job, was it?
