Chapter 127: Wasn't He Dead?
"Was this your doing? What kind of tricks did you pull?" Zhen Pianzi pointed at Qin Tian and shouted.
However, Zhen Pianzi was also puzzled. Qin Tian had been right beside him; there was no way he could have tampered with anything. Besides, those were bank transfer records—what ability did Qin Tian have to alter or delete them? Unless that bank belonged to his family!
"Making baseless accusations is not right, you know. Alright, I’m done wasting time on your nonsense. Are we settling this officially or privately?" Qin Tian said indifferently.
"Arrest them!"
"That's right! This gang of scammers is despicable! If this young man hadn't shown up in time, this couple would have suffered a huge loss!"
Some suggested handing Zhen Pianzi and his crew over to the authorities, while others suggested giving them a sound beating and making them pay for emotional distress.
"Uncle Di, what do you think?" Since the protagonist of this incident was Di Hanqing, Qin Tian checked with the person involved to see how he wanted to handle it.
"Sigh, we haven't actually suffered any losses, so let's just let it go," Di Hanqing sighed.
"We can't just let it go! Otherwise, they won't learn their lesson and will continue to swindle others!" Zhou Qinhua argued.
"Then, should we send them to the authorities?" Di Hanqing asked.
"Qin Tian, you were the one who helped us out of this predicament. What do you think we should do?" Zhou Qinhua looked toward Qin Tian.
"Two million. We'll call it even," Qin Tian walked up and said to Zhen Pianzi.
"Two million? Impossible! I don't have that much money!" Zhen Pianzi was startled; Qin Tian was asking for a king's ransom!
"Then we'll send you to the authorities," Qin Tian shrugged.
"I really don't have that much. How about two hundred thousand?" Zhen Pianzi tried to negotiate.
"It seems I have no choice but to send you to the authorities," Qin Tian said, taking out his phone to make a call.
"No, no, no! One million! How about one million?" Zhen Pianzi pleaded.
"I don't want to waste any more breath," Qin Tian said, pressing a few keys on his phone, ready to dial.
"Fine! Two million it is!" Zhen Pianzi gritted his teeth. Two million was the limit of his assets. His total net worth was only a little over 2.01 million; Qin Tian was essentially stripping him of everything he owned!
"Make the transfer." Qin Tian smiled as he obtained Di Hanqing’s bank account number.
The two-million figure was not a random demand; Qin Tian had specifically investigated it. When he was clearing the transfer records, he had asked Nangong Xiao'e to check Zhen Pianzi's assets. It was an unintentional move at the time, but it turned out to be quite useful!
A failed scam attempt, losing everything instead of gaining anything—this should be a lesson that sticks, right? With tears in his eyes, Zhen Pianzi transferred the two million he had worked so hard to accumulate into Di Hanqing's account.
"Get lost! And don't let me catch you scamming people again!" Qin Tian glared at Zhen Pianzi.
"Yes, yes, yes, we won't dare to do it again." Zhen Pianzi bowed and scraped as he scurried away, followed by his fake moving company cohorts. The onlookers gradually dispersed, leaving only the five of them behind.
"I can't take this money," Di Hanqing said to Qin Tian after everyone had left, trying to hand the two million back to him.
"Uncle Di, just keep it. If you don't need it, save it. In case someone else who was swindled by Zhen Pianzi comes looking for help, you can verify their claims and return the money to them," Qin Tian suggested.
Di Hanqing thought about it and decided it was a good idea, so he nodded in agreement.
"By the way, Uncle Di, what brings you to Tongyang City?" Qin Tian asked curiously.
"Our son is studying at university here, so we came to visit him," Di Hanqing replied.
"Your son is also studying here? Which university?" Qin Tian asked.
"Pinde University," Di Hanqing said.
"What a coincidence! I’m at Pinde University too. What’s his name?" Qin Tian was surprised; he hadn't expected the son of Di Hanqing and his wife to be his schoolmate!
"Speaking of my son's name, it's a bit of a story. It’s the same as a famous historical figure—he’s called Di Renjie," Di Hanqing said, feeling a bit embarrassed.
Qin Tian’s eyes widened instantly. Di Renjie? Wasn't that the guy who shared his misery in the "Overlord Flower" floral arrangement elective course? Qin Tian had just asked casually, not expecting to know the son, but he actually did!
"You know my son?" Seeing Qin Tian’s strange expression, Di Hanqing asked immediately.
"I do. We are in the same elective class," Qin Tian nodded.
"What a coincidence! He only transferred to Pinde University this year," Di Hanqing said with a smile, marveling at the wonders of the world.
"Indeed!" Qin Tian also nodded with a smile.
As for Jiang Yingying and Shen Xiaoqing, they didn't know what the two were talking about, as they were unaware of the situation between Qin Tian and Di Renjie.
"Would you like to come over to A'jie's place for a sit-down?" Di Hanqing invited him.
"No, we still have class." Qin Tian’s expression changed slightly as he checked the time; it was already 8:30, only half an hour left until class!
"Uncle Di, let's keep in touch. I have to dash to class!" Qin Tian said hurriedly before rushing toward the school with Jiang Yingying and Shen Xiaoqing.
"That boy is a good person," Zhou Qinhua said with a kind expression.
"If only our A'jie could treat us like Qin Tian does," Di Hanqing sighed.
"It’s not A'jie’s fault. We were the ones who were too greedy. It’s only natural that he hates us," Zhou Qinhua sighed as well.
"I wonder if our son will even let us through the door," Di Hanqing worried.
"We are his parents, after all. Surely he wouldn't refuse to let us into our own home?" Although Zhou Qinhua said this, she was extremely anxious inside.
Di Hanqing arrived at the building and climbed to the thirteenth floor with Zhou Qinhua, pressing the doorbell of 1301. After the bell rang for a while, a teenager in pajamas opened the door, rubbing his sleep-filled eyes.
"Uncle, Auntie, who are you?" Chu Feiyu asked, puzzled as to why two strangers were visiting so early in the morning.
"We are A'jie’s parents," Di Hanqing said.
"A'jie’s parents? You are Di Renjie’s parents?" Chu Feiyu’s eyes widened in shock.
"That's right," Di Hanqing nodded with a smile. This Chu Feiyu must be their son's good friend. They had heard that shortly after they left, their son had made a close friend.
"How is that possible? Am I seeing ghosts? Didn't A'jie's parents die a long time ago?" Chu Feiyu rubbed his eyes, his voice filled with disbelief.
Hearing Chu Feiyu's words, Di Hanqing and Zhou Qinhua were struck as if by lightning. They were dead? Their own son had told people they were already dead! Di Hanqing’s heart turned cold instantly—it seemed their son harbored deep resentment toward them.
