Eviscerator Jess returned to his seat with a dark expression on his face. He truly had not expected to be slapped in the face by a mere punk, and he was determined to get his payback!

The meeting was about to resume, and the various doctors gradually snapped out of their shock, though they still murmured and discussed the incident with the colleagues sitting next to them.

Some of the Western medicine practitioners who had only recently entered the field developed a sudden interest in Traditional Chinese Medicine, pondering whether they should switch their studies.

The stunt pulled by Qin Tian was subtly and imperceptibly changing the minds of certain people.

The subsequent proceedings of the meeting truly did not "disappoint" Qin Tian!

Indeed, it turned out precisely as Qin Tian had anticipated!

It was simply two factions wasting their breath over trivial matters.

It was just like Northerners and Southerners arguing over how many pairs of thermal underwear one should wear in the winter.

The Northerners said two, while the Southerners said there was no need to wear any.

With completely different fundamental premises, what the hell was there to discuss?

Qin Tian shook his head, having had enough of this tedious forum meeting. After exchanging a brief greeting with Sun Simin, he walked straight out.

Since he had already thoroughly saved face for Traditional Chinese Medicine, Qin Tian felt there was no need for him to linger here any longer.

As for the banquet after the conclusion of the meeting, he cared little for such a meal; it was far more practical to head back and cook a meal for Jiang Yingying and Shen Xiaoqing to share together.

Qin Tian glanced at the time. It was a little past three o'clock. If he took the bus to the vegetable market right now, he would arrive around four. After buying the groceries and heading home, it would be roughly four-and-a-half, leaving him an hour to prepare an exquisite dinner—perfect!

Qin Tian walked to the bus stop and boarded the bus smoothly without any unexpected hitches. After finishing his grocery shopping at quarter past four, he spent another fifteen minutes walking back, which was just right.

Humming a little tune, Qin Tian suddenly thought of the teppanyaki squid, and saliva uncontrollably began to pool in his mouth.

Qin Tian swallowed his saliva. Should he make a detour and buy a few more skewers?

No sooner thought than done! Qin Tian made a detour to the student street and bought four skewers of squid.

Following his familiar routine, he walked and ate one skewer on the way, leaving the remaining three to take home—one each for himself, Jiang Yingying, and Shen Xiaoqing.

Halfway there, Qin Tian realized something was amiss and hurriedly ran back to buy another skewer, because he suddenly remembered that Tang Bo was still at home!

"Boss, give me two more skewers!" Qin Tian struggled internally for a moment, thinking that since he was already back here, he might as well buy an extra one for himself to eat! Besides, nobody would know, right?

Bang!

Bang!

At that very moment, a few loud bangs erupted from a neighboring stall. Qin Tian turned his head to look and saw that the stall over there had been overturned by three punk-looking individuals.

"Sigh, they're here to cause trouble again," the barbecue stall owner sighed.

"Boss, what's going on here?" Qin Tian asked casually.

"Those three are rent collectors. The mother and daughter at the snack stall next door haven't been doing well lately and have already fallen two months behind on their rent," the barbecue stall owner explained.

"Even so, they shouldn't go around smashing things, should they?" Qin Tian frowned slightly.

"They work for Black Bear, a pretty influential local gang. No one dares to cross them," the barbecue stall owner said.

"Please don't smash things, sob sob sob... We will definitely pay the money."

"Stop smashing! Please stop!"

At the neighboring stall, the mother was struggling desperately to prevent the three men from destroying the place, while the young woman had her back turned, curled up in a corner and weeping.

Qin Tian's eyes widened. This young lady seemed to have quite a nice figure! And looking at her mother's face, she was probably an absolute beauty!

Qin Tian pondered for a moment. Should he play the hero saving the damsel in distress? This was a prime opportunity arranged by the heavens for him!

If he let this slip through his fingers, wouldn't he be struck by lightning?

Weren't there countless plots like this in stories? The hero saves the beauty, the beauty subsequently marries the hero, and then the two of them live happily ever after.

If another twist could be added to the middle, it would be even more perfect!

After saving the beauty, the hero discovers that the beauty is actually the illegitimate daughter of some mega-billionaire. Then the beauty inherits the billionaire's fortune, and the hero marries her all over again.

From then on, this hero would reach the absolute pinnacle of life!

As Qin Tian daydreamed, drool was practically about to drip from his mouth.

"Eat up." The barbecue stall owner assumed Qin Tian was just craving his squid, so he hurriedly handed the grilled squid over to Qin Tian.

Had the barbecue stall owner known that Qin Tian was actually craving the young lady's body, he probably would have felt the urge to hit him with a mallet.

"Boss, keep an eye on my stuff for a moment." Qin Tian left his items at the barbecue stall.

"Hey, where are you going?" The barbecue stall owner watched Qin Tian walk toward the neighboring stall, panic instantly washing over him as he tried to call him back.

"To play the hero saving the damsel!" Qin Tian waved his hand, leaving the barbecue stall owner with a dashing back.

Qin Tian pushed his way through the crowd, strode into the center of the scene, and shouted, "Stop right there! Let that girl go!"

Then, Qin Tian froze in awkwardness. The three thugs had grabbed the middle-aged woman instead.

"Ahem, damn it! Let's take it from the top!"

"Stop right there! Let that auntie go!" Qin Tian shouted.

The three thugs were momentarily stunned. They hadn't expected anyone to actually have the guts to meddle in their business.

"Who the hell do you think you are, punk?" One of them stepped forward. He was half a head shorter than Qin Tian, yet he stood with his hands on his hips, staring up arrogantly and glaring at Qin Tian.

"I am your destined nemesis!" Qin Tian puffed out his chest.

"Are you out of your mind with eighth-grade syndrome? Read too many novels and anime?" The thug was stunned for a moment, then burst into laughter.

"Kid, I won't hold it against you this time. Get lost!" The thug gave Qin Tian another fierce glare, telling him to scram immediately.

"I really didn't want to meddle in other people's business, but my hands and feet just refuse to stay idle." As Qin Tian spoke, he delivered a punch straight to the thug's face, instantly giving him a black eye.

The thug covered his eye and staggered backward, his face twisted in pain mixed with a hint of disbelief.

"We work for Brother Bear! How dare you hit us?" The thug hauled out the name of their boss, Black Bear, as a threat.

"I don't give a damn if it's Brother Bear or Brother Cat. Even if you dug up Brother Panda, it wouldn't do you any good!" Qin Tian said indifferently.

Dealing with thugs like this didn't require too much nonsense; just beat them up and get it over with. They wouldn't dare to call the police anyway, which was why Qin Tian had dared to throw a punch right off the bat.

"Get him!" The thug called out to his two companions to join forces.

The two companions released the older woman and closed in on Qin Tian simultaneously.

Qin Tian could muster zero interest in dealing with such third-rate punks. He decided to finish these three off quickly and then go pull the beauty huddled in the corner to her feet!

Qin Tian was already impatient to see the beauty looking at him with deep gratitude! If she happened to utter the words that she was willing to offer herself in return, Qin Tian would be bubbling over with joy!

Bang! Bang! Bang!

In a mere three moves, the three thugs were knocked flat to the ground by Qin Tian, completely unable to get back up.

Qin Tian walked over and politely offered some comforting words to the older woman first—she might turn out to be his mother-in-law someday, right?

"Thank you, young man," the older woman said with a sigh of relief.

Qin Tian smiled. Just as he was about to help the young beauty up, his actions were interrupted by a roar from behind.

"How dare you beat up the men of my Brother Bear?"
