Chapter 134: Little Brother, Keep Healing
The old man’s laughter cut off abruptly. He clutched his waist, his face contorted in such agony that he couldn't utter a word.
This man was Ji Debai, a fairly renowned physician in medical circles who had performed well over a thousand major surgeries.
"Old Bai, what’s wrong?" one of his close associates immediately asked, rushing to his side.
"I..." Ji Debai gasped for air, his mouth agape, pointing at his waist while unable to form a coherent sentence.
"What did you do? Are you trying to kill him?" Ji Debai’s camp turned their accusations toward Qin Tian.
"I’m just demonstrating the charm of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Do you believe me now?" Qin Tian looked at Ji Debai with a faint, mocking smile.
Was it really a strike to a pressure point from a distance? Of course not.
Back at the entrance, when Ji Debai had brushed past him, Qin Tian had performed a subtle flick of his wrist. He had simply timed it so that the effect would trigger at this exact moment. He hadn't done anything drastic—merely blocked the blood flow in Ji Debai’s waist, causing a muscular spasm in the meridians. For such a condition, Qin Tian could resolve it instantly with a single needle. However, when he chose to do so depended entirely on Ji Debai’s willingness to admit he was wrong.
"Believe... my... foot!" Ji Debai gritted out through clenched teeth.
"Still feeling tough? Then keep on suffering," Qin Tian chuckled.
"You! Heal Old Bai right now!" the people on Ji Debai’s side demanded anxiously.
"Why should I?" Qin Tian asked.
"You caused this, so you’re the one who has to fix it!" one of them sneered.
"He doesn't believe I can perform long-distance acupoint strikes, so this isn't my doing. He must have just had a sudden medical episode," Qin Tian said, shrugging with an expression of feigned innocence.
The people around Ji Debai hesitated. What Qin Tian said actually sounded somewhat logical...
"Old Bai, just admit it. I don’t know what trick this kid pulled, but there’s no doubt he’s behind this!" a longtime friend urged him.
"Impossible!" Ji Debai hissed. Admit it? That was out of the question!
"See? He doesn't believe me. He doesn't believe this was done through acupoint manipulation, so it has nothing to do with me." Qin Tian shrugged, sat down, crossed his legs, and began chatting happily with Sun Simin, ignoring Ji Debai’s plight entirely.
"Ah!" Ji Debai let out an involuntary cry of pain.
The commotion caught the attention of many, and Wu Hairong walked over.
"It’s Dr. Wu! He’ll definitely be able to save Old Bai!" someone exclaimed in relief.
Wu Hairong froze for a moment. He had only come over to see what was happening; how had he suddenly been thrust into the role of savior?
"Dr. Wu, please, check Old Bai and see what’s wrong," Ji Debai’s companion begged.
He had tried to examine Ji Debai himself, but he couldn't find a thing. Being overly reliant on medical machinery, he was at a loss when the surface symptoms didn't point to an obvious diagnosis. He needed a scan and a comparison with textbooks to identify a cause.
Wu Hairong didn't refuse. He figured he had plenty of experience—what illness could possibly stump him? He crouched down and began to examine Ji Debai. Wu frowned, looked around, and grabbed a disposable paper cup from a table. He poked a small hole in the bottom, placed the rim against Ji Debai’s body, and pressed his ear to the tiny hole.
"Amazing! He actually fashioned an improvised stethoscope!"
"Indeed! To think of using a paper cup as a stethoscope in such a situation! He truly deserves his reputation as the youngest professor!"
"To have such talent in our medical field is a great blessing!"
The sycophants nearby showered him with praise, making Qin Tian cringe. An improvised stethoscope from a paper cup? What an absolute joke! It was useless! Unless Wu Hairong had hearing several times more sensitive than a normal human, there was no way he could hear anything.
"Hmm."
"I see."
"It’s likely this."
Wu Hairong muttered to himself as he moved the cup across Ji Debai’s body.
"As expected of a divine physician! He’s already found the solution!" someone immediately flattered.
In reality, Wu Hairong was panicking. Found a solution? He hadn't found anything! He hadn't heard a single thing wrong. If it weren't for the expression of sheer agony on Ji Debai’s face, he would have suspected the man was faking it.
Wu Hairong sighed. He truly couldn't diagnose the cause; a hospital scan would be the only way to know for sure. But with so many people watching, he couldn't afford to lose face. He had to grit his teeth and bluff his way through it.
"This... he’s just, well, he’s having a bit of a spasm. It’ll pass in a moment," Wu Hairong declared.
*Pfft!*
Qin Tian, who had just taken a sip of water after opening a bottle, nearly spat it out. This guy was a master of nonsense!
"Oh, so it’s just a spasm. Don't worry, Old Bai, it’ll be over soon," everyone said, visibly relieved.
Ji Debai, however, was full of doubt. A spasm didn't feel like this! His waist felt bloated, as if a tendon had been pulled taut—it was excruciating.
"Ah!" Ji Debai let out another pained shriek.
"Is there any way to ease his pain?" the companion asked Wu Hairong.
"Well, massage the area just below his cervical spine; that should help alleviate the pain," Wu Hairong improvised.
The companion didn't doubt him for a second and immediately began to massage the spot.
"Ah!"
"Ah!"
"Ah!"
Every time his companion pressed down, Ji Debai let out a cry of agony, though his companion mistakenly thought it was a sign of relief. Ji Debai, meanwhile, felt like dying. This massage was completely useless! He was in agony!
"He’s talking nonsense. If you don't seek proper treatment soon, any lingering complications will be on you," Qin Tian said coolly.
"You say my treatment isn't proper? Then you do it!" Wu Hairong retorted.
"I won't. He’s not my patient," Qin Tian shrugged. His stance was clear: if Ji Debai didn't believe him, he wouldn't treat him.
"Ah! I was wrong! I believe you can strike pressure points from a distance! I believe in the power of Traditional Chinese Medicine!" Ji Debai, unable to bear the pain any longer, finally surrendered to Qin Tian.
"Heh, wouldn't it have been easier to just do that earlier?" Qin Tian smiled, stood up, walked over, and patted Ji Debai on the shoulder.
"Wait? The pain is gone?" Ji Debai’s eyes widened. He was actually pain-free!
"Hahaha! See? I told you it was just a spasm! The massage technique I taught you cured him!" Wu Hairong laughed heartily.
Qin Tian paused. Wu Hairong was certainly quick to steal credit!
"So it was Dr. Wu’s method! I was wondering how this kid’s pat could have cured him—he nearly scared me to death!" the companion laughed, letting out a sigh of relief.
"You claim you cured him?" Qin Tian narrowed his eyes at Wu Hairong.
"That’s right! I cured him!" Wu Hairong said, looking smug.
"Then by all means, keep curing him." Qin Tian patted Ji Debai’s shoulder once more.
Ji Debai’s face, which had just regained its color, instantly turned the color of liver. He curled up into the shape of a shrimp in agony.
"Ah!" Ji Debai began screaming in pain again.
"Quick, massage below his cervical spine!" Wu Hairong commanded.
However, no matter how hard the companion massaged, Ji Debai didn't recover from his "spasm." He rolled his eyes in agony, looking as though he were on the verge of fainting from the pain.
"Young man, please continue your treatment. You’re so capable, aren't you? Why don't you fix him? Heal him once more for me to see," Qin Tian said, arms crossed, watching Wu Hairong with a playful glint in his eye.
Cold sweat streamed down Wu Hairong’s forehead. He suddenly found himself with nowhere left to hide.
